I'm going to be stepping back from social media, Facebook and Twitter. I'll still be posting on my blog Irish Papist. I can always be reached at my email, which is simply my first name followed by @gmail.com

Cool groups of people never walk single file.

It's a sobering thought that, if we were completely selfless every fourth day, and more or less selfish the other three, we would all probably do much more good than we do now.

A stirring account of the heroic comrades who are protecting us from hate!

The past is a foreign country. One that I'd happily emigrate to.

A lost property department is sadly symbolic of the human condition. It's full of things that nobody ever come to reclaim, and constantly searched for things that aren't there.

I don't want to offend anyone but I'm slowly and inevitably coming to the conclusion that Star Trek: Voyager was actually better than The Next Generation. Even when I say it sounds outrageous.

Do NOT vote for anyone who supported the hate speech bill-- the most sinister attack on free speech in the history of the State. It must die and all who supported it should never be allowed to forget their complicity.

NIAMH UÍ BHRIAIN: Every single Sinn Féin TD present in the Dáil last April voted for the hate speech bill. Their u-turn, prompted by falling polling numbers and the feeling they are losing the room on a great many issues, is fooling no-one. gript.ie/sinn-fein-are-…

One of my favourite album covers. "Back to the Egg" by Paul McCartney and Wings.

youtu.be/Pa6iKYydFmU?si… It's out of season, but I came across this YouTube video recently. One of my all-time favourites. How has it never become viral? Even the line "Richard Dawkins's love-child" is worth the price of admission.

The expression mílemurder...how common is it? I'm sure I've heard it quite a bit, but I can't find many instances of it or information about it. @ctaoc , an féidir leat solas ar bith a caitheamh?

The worst thing about having an Irish name is that when people hear it they often start speaking to me in Gaelic. And although I can actually speak Gaelic (Gaeilge briste or líofacht lofa) my immediate reaction is brainfreeze. I can't switch mental gears that quickly.

Here's a weird fact: the Halfpenny Bridge was known as the Metal Bridge as recently as the twenties and only got its current name decades later. lornapeel.com/2022/06/12/hap…

Given all the talk on hate speech and hate crime...here is a book on sale in Dubray Books, and through their website. I sent an email of complaint to them but it was ignored. Apparently some sorts of hate are OK.

youtube.com/watch?v=W6_d22… I think this might be my favourite reggae song.

Our country desperately needs an alliance of conservatives, libertarians and true liberals who will push against the woke agenda with all their might, and especially the hate speech legislation. Last Friday revealed that there is way more dissent than they pretend.

I thought we women would get a rest after the referendum, that things would change, that we’d be listened to but no. Well done to @joeliveline yesterday having so many NoNo women on to speak about their concerns about the attempted deletion of women, mothers and our economic…

Why say NO to assisted suicide? Yes there are are fine, noble philosophical arguments against killing but you will find those elsewhere. My objections here are purely pragmatic & practical. You can't put in guard rails to protect against killing anybody once you've allowed…
