I used my own data to reveal the hidden workload new mothers carry. What I found was both shocking and validating. tinyurl.com/invisbilemomla… @HuffPost #motherhood #parenthood #invisiblelabor #academictwitter #academicmom #hiddenwork #familyleave #maternalhealth #breastfeeding
How's the semester going? Let's review: 1st week: ac & power out; 2nd week: active shooter; 3rd week: normal!; 4th week: lockdown; 5th week: covid; 6th week: no childcare. It's going great. I'm doing great.
Today's hot #parenting take: It is not possible to work and listen to baby #cryitout. #academicmom #parenthood
Because thoughts and prayers are not enough. @VP and I just created the first White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
How are we supposed to resume normal activities?

This lockdown at UNC Chapel Hill is happening during the same MWF class that it happened with two weeks ago.
Yesterday Republican lawmakers mocked UNC students who were protesting gun violence & today those students are in lockdown once again. We can ask ourselves "Why does this keep happening?" but we already know the answer

Seeing this written on the ground at UNC today really hit me. It’s hard seeing another school go through another shooting. The school year is just starting. Hug your friends and kids because they might not make it to the last day of school in this country. We deserve better.
Thank you for having me speak- March For Our Lives UNC Chapel Hill. I wish it was under better circumstances but we are in this together and you are not alone.
The front page of tomorrow's @dailytarheel – I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours. Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.
Yesterday was an anxious hell. But in the spirit of looking for helpers, I’m grateful to the students who shared chargers, colleagues who teamed up to secure doors, the campus Y employee who advised on exit routes and secure closets. Let’s never #unclockdown together again.
Reading through comments from UNC students this morning. Horrifying. Traumatic. What a horror.
Is this really happening to me again? During my freshman year of HS, my Parkland community lost 17 angels. Today, I am having to relive the grief and unease of a shooter on my campus once again. My heart goes out to my Chapel Hill family today. I know how hard these times can be.
#UNC will open a hotline starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday for concerned parents, loved ones and community members who have questions. The number is 919-918-1999
