I’ve been holding in good news for too long 🤭 I am honored and excited to be a recent recipient of @equitablegrowth Early Career Grant, joining a list of so many scholars whose work I admire! What a way to start Year 4 of the PhD, officially a Candidate! 🎉
🚨Today, we announce a new slate of grantees! 🚨 10 early career scholars will receive Equitable Growth funding to study economic inequality. The organization was particularly interested in funding research that uncovers a need for policy action. ⬇️ equitablegrowth.org/early-career-s… /1
I love my black job 🖤
Simone Biles being the GOAT, winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job.

Delighted to announce that Dr. Jesse Rothstein @rothstein_jesse, Carmel P. Friesen Professor of Public Policy & Professor of Economics at @UCBerkeley , will receive the 2024 @AEAMP1 Impactful Mentor Award at the 2024 AEA Summer Mentoring Pipeline Conference!
"In the current policy-making power structure, economists are super influential. But ironically, the people who are driven by questions of social justice end up steered away from economics." bit.ly/3OPtb8h

If you're an eligible undergrad student who is considering applying to a PhD program in econ (even if you're not sure that's the path you want to take), consider applying to this program! I participated as a student - and later as an instructor.

🚨The @UCLAlatino Latino Data Hub is LIVE🚨 For years, finding data on issues impacting Latinos in the U.S. has been far too difficult. This free resource makes it simple to explore key indicators of Latino well-being. ➡️latinodatahub.org
What a privilege to be a part of such an inspiring circle! After a week learning about the frontier of economics of migration, I leave excited to transition into research through the third year of the PhD 🤓 here’s to many more prosperous projects (+ friends + colleagues! 🥂)
That's a wrap to the 2nd edition of the Summer School on the "Economics of Migration", organized by @UCD_GlobalMC and hosted by @UC_AlianzaMX at Casa de la Universidad de California in #CDMX. Thank you to the Professors and the amazing group of students. See you next year!
My single mother immigrated from Mexico to the US to give me & my siblings better lives. My grandfather only allowed her a 3rd grade education even though her dream was to be a math teacher. I’ll never be as good at math as her, but with her endless support I did become a PhD!
💡 #SIMRMSpotlight 💡 Tere is a third year PhD student in economics at UC Berkeley. @TereCruzVital 's research interests exist at the intersection of labor economics and economic inequality and center immigrant communities.
It’s 9:26pm. My mom gets out of work at 6pm. She continues working at home to make ends meet. In 9 days, she’ll be able to say “My daughter got her Masters from UCLA”. We’ve come a long way.
I got into Cornell’s Public Policy PhD program. I’ve also been awarded a Deans Excellence Fellowship! It’s surreal given that my dad only got his GED & my mom didn’t even go to high school. I feel honored and hope to continue to use my education to empower Indigenous communities.
I would like to fund a 1-year Stata license to 2 aspiring economists who want more exposure to coding. Ideally, they must be an undergraduate economics student (studying in a U.S. institution) who is interested in pursuing a PhD in economics.
Considering grad school? Join the virtual @berkeleyecon Graduate Diversity Admissions Fair on 10/20 11:00AM PT to learn more about our PhD program! We will include a rundown of the program, faculty presentation, student experiences, and a Q&A.Register now: bit.ly/3g4hMmA
