If Israel insists on destroying civilian targets in Lebanon, let them buy and build their own weapons. American taxpayers should not be funding this.

Looks like front month oil averaged $96.5 from 12/31/10 - 6/30/14. I don't remember gas tax holidays or any form of fiscal offsets. Or anyone even talking about such things. Meanwhile household balance sheets were much worse. Unemployment much higher. Wages growing slower.
An interesting read. Don't at all mean to nostalgize machine politics, but it does feel notable that one of the first political moves of the first-wave gentrifiers was to weaken the historically strong coalitions btwn unions, municipal bureaucracies, and borough/city Democrats...

This is going to help a lot of people, but I'd take it step further and bundle this with changes in higher ed & hiring. The cost of education is insane. Mandatory degree & certificate hurdles to jobs need to be public services and not private profit centers.
.@chuckschumer to hold a presser tomorrow with @ewarren, @RepAdams @AyannaPressley @IlhanMN @MondaireJones in new proposal to cancel up to $50K in federal student loan debt
After a disappointing Texans season, those expecting change from ownership did not get it. Now, with an embattled executive fighting for his job, a QB threatening to leave, a staff in crisis and a fan base incensed, the franchise has invited more chaos buff.ly/38LsaJM
Projected on the NW side of Lambeau Field. The playoffs are big in GB. @packers
This is a slippery slope
From Amazon's letter: "Over the past several weeks, we’ve reported 98 examples to Parler of posts that clearly encourage and incite violence" Has ... has Amazon read .... the rest of the internet?
Far more violence has been planned on Facebook than on Parler, including at the Capitol & many other violent protests as well. Google-owned YouTube has long algorithmically promoted right-wing extremism. Now they're feigning offense to destroy Parler: nytimes.com/2019/08/11/wor…

No. We do not need a domestic terrorism law. If we had domestic terrorism laws on the books, many of my friends would have been charged with them over the years. Today we would be wondering wether or not what happened at the Capitol actually qualifies.
It will be shameful if his political career continues to get rewarded
Andrew Cuomo has rolled out coronavirus vaccines slower than West Virginia, Vermont, and Florida. A new, very contagious variant of the virus threatens New York. He failed in March and he's failing again. rossbarkan.substack.com/p/why-isnt-new…
Can we get in touch with him today and learn what the next 27 years will be by like? BTW - he's firmly in the, NYC is dead side of the debate.
1/ In September 1993, then-Microsoft exec Nathan Myhrvold wrote his landmark memo "Road Kill on the Information Highway", laying out a dozen-ish predictions on the rise of the internet 27 years later, I think it's a super interesting case study. Let's evaluate the predictions -
One of these days, people should consider the possibility that the reason we've gone SEVEN YEARS without a single piece of evidence is because it didn't happen. Crazy, right?
Pardon debate aside, I have still never seen anyone corroborate the frequently made assertion that Snowden “handed over” classified secrets to Russia or China. There is no public evidence that I am aware of that supports that claim.
If Joe Rogan being called an open bigot that Bernie Sanders has to condemn but Rahm “I covered up a black man’s murder” Emmanuel being called a qualified civil servant doesn’t convince you that idpol is all disingenuous bullshit I’m not sure what will
urge everyone to reread this masterful piece on Trump and how history will judge his collaborators
This is must read by @anneapplebaum There are supporters, but more importantly there are collaborators. The harshest judgment should be reserved for them. theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…
The New England Journal of Medicine has never published a political editorial, in its 200+ year history. Until yesterday. It says Trump has failed the public health. Editor-in-chief Dr. Eric Rubin joins @AxiosReCap axios.com/new-england-jo…
Also highlights immigration and the critical role it needs to play in NYC’s future or else..
This from @foxjust at Bloomerberg is worth a read. It's level-headed but with a warning we should heed. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…
