Ch4 - “Nigel Farage and his entourfage”

What terrible news. The kindest and most well beloved of judges. If the Family Division had a fairy godmother it was Roberts J.

Mrs Justice Roberts has sadly died today. She spent so much time on every judgment for she was determined not to be appealed!

Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries: "It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use…

Radio 4 - it’s not a debate it’s an opportunity to introduce yourself

Flesh tones shouldn’t make a difference but they do. History, distance and musing on the left; living, breathing choices, action, connection on the right. Everything @StuartHumphryes does makes a difference.

Thursday 6th June 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in World War II. To mark the event, I've cleaned-up a family photo of my uncle Jim, who was a Commando in the 41st Royal Marines, and part of the 4th Special Service Brigade who took part in the Normandy…

In 2019 I asked my partner to paint 5 of the most trailblazing female lawyers in UK legal history to celebrate @First100years . They used to be a tad lonely hanging in meeting rooms by themselves. Great to see the whole gang together in the new offices. 🤩

Overturning the “blame culture” which erodes public service could, says the @HaemoSocUK_PI Chair Clive Smith, be the @bloodinquiry’s “greatest legacy”. Note too, the call from Prof Gray, formerly of @NuffieldTrust for regulation of NHS managers. #infectedblood

The “Subtle, pervasive and chilling” cover up of the blood scandal comes the day before MPs meet to discuss why the government has yet to act over Mesh, Valproate, and Primodos. Campaigners who know too well that a belated govt. apology doesn’t always come with financial redress.

On #infectedblood scandal today - feels like campaigners who have fought for many years are very happy with the findings which, in general, support what many have been saying for years. Some points from the report which I thought were particularly strong.

Some quotes from the #InfectedBloodReport Note the APPALLING definition of this cover-up or hiding of the truth. Note NHS failures re the basic human right to consent and autonomy. And the closing of tanks v patients by the NHS, civil servants and successive governments.
