Jeremy, you know I worked for J Street for 5 years—but I think when Israeli ministers say they’re committing another Nakba and the intelligence ministry is producing papers recommending the forced displacement of Palestinians, we can take them at their word

I disagree with @RepBowman calling Israel’s response to Hamas’s terrorism ‘genocide’ and ‘ethnic cleansing.’ Peace, which Bowman and I both want, will never happen with Hamas controlling Gaza. Israel has the right and obligation to ensure Hamas can never do this again.

If long sentences to cages made the U.S. "safe," we would have the safest society in world history. We don't. People who study these issues understand that safety is not connected to long sentences, which actually *reduce* overall U.S. life expectancy by 100,000,000s of years.

This is a thread by a person who is an "editorial writer" for Washington Post. His post (and the editorial on behalf of a major media institution) goes against the great weight of scientific evidence and just falsely asserts as fact that longer sentences lead to more "safety."

New Washington Post Editorial: Feeling forced to choose, President Biden picked public safety over home rule for the capital city. Despite our grave concerns about the law, it shouldn’t have come to this. Washington’s leaders should have acted on their own.

Hey Siri, please define “home rule”

I support D.C. Statehood and home-rule – but I don’t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor’s objections – such as lowering penalties for carjackings. If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did – I’ll sign it.

I can't stop thinking about this devastating, heartbreaking account from a 36 year old Palestinian medic today in Nablus. I can't stop thinking about it.

This Hannukah, we light candles in memory of the workers whose lives were lost. Their fires burn now in pursuit of liberation and freedom for workers around the world. Hannukah Sameach (Happy Hannukah) to all who celebrate!✨(2/2)

In 1911, a fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory killed 146 women -- most of whom were Jewish garment workers. The anger and radicalization that followed helped create the powerful textile workers union that eventually became UNITE HERE. (1/2)
