"I want all women who have been raped to say: Madame Pelicot did it, I can too. I don't want them to be ashamed any longer." That shame was never hers to carry. Gisele Pelicot is so right and so brave to refuse it and to demand that it changes side. lbc.co.uk/news/gisele-pe…

This woman deserves the Nobel peace prize. I will never not be bowled over by the courage she has shown, the resilience, the strength to use her pain to highlight the plight of so many other women.

My God, the courage.

There’s still time to send Rishi Sunak a message that only Labour can deliver the change Britain needs. Polls close at 10pm.

More than 500 people are reported to have been killed after an airstrike on Al-Ahli hospital. There is no justification for this devastating loss of life. The international community must call for an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts to avoid a regional war.

Disaster: our hospital, Ahli Arab hospital has taken a direct hit from an Israeli missile. Early reports say hundreds of women and children killed. This is deliberate killing of vulnerable civilians. The bombs must stop now. There can be no possible justification for this.

The creation of humanitarian corridors in Gaza is essential. We need them to allow vital supplies into Gaza and to allow people to leave. Collective punishment on a whole population who have nothing to do with the horrendous actions of Hamas can't be justified.

The First Minister told @LBC @LBCNews that his family have just a day’s supply of essentials left and their hopes of leaving today were ended when the one route out of Gaza was bombed.

Utterly heinous

🧵: The “false allegations of rape” storyline is one of society’s most successful conspiracy theories and one of our most pervasive moral panics. Of course, it happens. All humans are capable of lying. But the number of false allegations is NOT statistically significant. 1/4

On segregation, the below isn’t wrong, but here’s some perspective. Blackburn is the furthest outlier on this metric in the UK, whereas several US cities are more extreme. NYC is about the same as Blackburn, while London is more genuinely diverse/mixed than ~any major US city.

The levels of racial segregation seen in many English towns and cities - as per the 2021 Census - are extraordinary, worrying and have gone almost entirely unremarked Meanwhile we Brits love to think of ourselves as far superior to the Americans and French on this issue

This clip, including the bit where the PM asks a homeless man if he would like to get into finance, is (literally) incredible. “I wouldn’t mind… but I’d like to get through Christmas first”.

Sunak asks a homeless man in a homeless shelter whether he "works in business", then proceeds to talk about the financial services industry. Utterly bizarre
