Where would you go to discuss decent work with such authoritative figures as @RachelReevesMP @thebigbogg @MichaelFordQC @SimmsMelanie @SteveAkehurst @UKDirectorLME @kategobell @mdiasabey @ShoesmithKate @GavinJKelly1, @sarahoconnor_ and workers at the sharp end of insecure work?

This #Budget24 is trying to walk a careful line. But if your key goal is growth, those growth forecasts don't look great. The NI rise is huge, and will affect the ability of firms to invest. It will also eat a lot of the additional public service funding. (1/)

Using technology to improve public services is laudable. But tech is only as good as the people using it. We've got to take a deeper look at how people are recruited and retained into the NHS, and across the public sector. We're ready to work with government on this. #Budget24

The growth figures Reeves just read out sound nowhere near the 2.5% the government wanted to get back to.... so lots of work to do. #Budget2024.

Thus far, the Budget has surprised me with the massive lowering of the NICs threshold to £5000, and the massive raising of the (widely condemned) Employment Allowance to £10,500. Interested to see what the tax experts say about the incentives this creates ...

I should say that last night's announcement of a 6.7% increase from April on #NLW and #NMW, while expected, is going to have a cumulative impact with the news on NICs. Here's our take: rec.uk.com/our-view/news/… #Budget24

It's also about time for progress on cracking down on #umbrellas where they are the promoters of tax avoidance. Glad to hear the Chancellor promise this today. We understand that the specifics on this will follow in time - REC team are speaking to HMRC already. #Budget24

OBR growth forecast up this year and next but below 2% a year after that. Still pretty disappointing stuff.

The headlines being offered by the Chancellor - focus on the NHS, get growth going, invest, invest, invest. Agree, agree, agree. We need to see action tho... And the first female Chancellor. It is important we don't gloss over this progress. But it is about time. #Budget24

#TeamREC are assembled ready for #Budget24 We’ll have all the information for @RECmembers rounded up today and @RECPress will be posting our reaction live.

Government can boost hiring by delivering a shot of economic confidence at the Budget next week, and save money by addressing NHS workforce challenges. But as @RECNeil cautions, an additional pound spent on rising government charges, tax or complying with badly designed…

Government had created a system over the past decade that undervalues staff, leading to frameworks seeking staffing at rates workers won’t accept, and a resultant rise is expensive emergency shifts. Staff bank rates are comparable or higher than agency, despite the claims.. (1/2)

Responding to the government announcement today of ➡️ change.nhs.uk - our @RECNeil said: “Sustainable frameworks for temporary staffing, which treat temps well, mean big changes to the current approach. This is all fixable – but it requires a genuine partnership between…
