So excited for this new book from @evaholland igg.me/at/nstfbook/x/…
Congrats to @ben_a_goldfarb on another excellent prize nod for CROSSINGS, now out in paperback.
ATLAS OBSCURA: WILD LIFE comes out today! i've been working on this book for years and years. i'm so excited for it to scamper into the world and introduce people to decoy spiders, pink fairy armadillos, crested saguaro cactuses, and a lot more. hachettebookgroup.com/titles/cara-gi…
I am in disbelief - thank you so much @nationalbook and this year’s judges for including OUR MOON. Incredibly proud to be on this list!! 🌕 (Internal dialogue sneak peek: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!)

Either preorder or run to get Becoming Earth by @ferrisjabr out next week, which I was lucky to read early. Just peak-of-powers science writing: a globetrotting adventure across a globe that breathes and bleeds and changes under each footfall. penguinrandomhouse.com/books/623907/b…
astro friends: for the book I'm looking for good references, technical or popular, on the subject of nucleosynthesis from B2FH to the r-process and what these elements go on to make up... basically, I'm interested in our current understanding of "we are stardust" suggestions?
Congratulations to the 2024-25 Taylor/Blakeslee Fellows! Six journalists-in-training are headed to grad school w support from CASW & The Brinson Foundation: Jenna Ahart, @AnikaJaneBeamer, @collinblinder, Jessica Chomik-Morales, Lina Savage, @laur_insider bit.ly/TBs24
6+ years ago, I began writing a book about our living planet. That book will officially be out in the world in just three weeks! I can’t wait to share it with you all I recently got to hold advance copies of the US (left) and UK (right) versions simultaneously for the first time
I love travel. And I think it's vital to reckon with the dark side of tourism in places like Mexico, where swaths of coast have been transformed for the benefit of outsiders at the expense of the people who live there. I spent a year reporting this: hakaimagazine.com/features/buyin…
I had seen great reviews of Our Moon by @rboyle31 @randomhouse, but by the book's middle, a history-of-ideas adventure from Mesopotamia to Kepler, I realized how even that praise sells short how skillful and genre-smashing it is. A truly cosmic tale by a master storyteller.
Today is publication day for @KalteneggerLisa lovely new book "Alien Earths" Congratulations! Definitely a needed addition to everyone's "what's happening in astrobiology" library.
Everyone knows there will be a solar eclipse on April 8, thanks to thousands of years of science. @josh_sokol reports: quantamagazine.org/how-the-ancien…
It's publication day for "COUNTDOWN: The Blinding Future of Nuclear Weapons." It's full of scientists from the nation's weapons labs talking candidly about their work, which doesn't happen often, and experts on the outside giving another perspective. hachettebookgroup.com/titles/sarah-s…
Today, my book is finally in the world. This project has been a labor of love over almost five years, but also, in a real way, my entire life. Now OUR MOON belongs to everyone. I hope it changes how you see the Moon, the Earth, and ourselves 🌕 Buy it: penguinrandomhouse.com/books/611468/o…
Update: we have friends to stay with in Dallas, so now I'll be in position.
no plans for the April 2024 eclipse but I'll at least wave this flag: editors, if you want a very good science writer to check out this whole sun goes away business, I'd be into it

Some personal news in the dream-come-true department: this is now official!!!
My latest at @QuantaMagazine is the story of a new class of celestial objects now emerging from the cosmic shadows: starless clumps of pure dark matter. quantamagazine.org/in-a-monster-s… The scientific literature calls these "subhaloes." I think they need a cooler name. Any suggestions?
Galleys of OUR MOON are here! This beautiful cover will shine forth from bookshelves everywhere Jan. 16, 2024! 🌕🐕 You can: ✅preorder a copy penguinrandomhouse.com/books/611468/o… ✅add it on Goodreads goodreads.com/book/show/1341… ✅let me know if you would like a copy for review purposes!
