Back from a great week in Norfolk for Alice's birthday. The usual suspects kept us busy, with Bearded Tits, Spoonbills, Cattle Egrets, Hobby and more. A sprinkle of migrants included my first Siberian Stonechat, and good views of six Yellow-browed Warblers - Alice's bogey bird!
Brilliant display of #orchids at @RSPBConwy at the moment, including some beautiful white variant chlorantha amongst the hundreds of Bee Orchids. Lots of Southern Marsh, and a few Early Marsh and Pyramidal too. #WildflowerHour #OrchidChallenge
Brown Argus and Dingy Skipper from yesterday. Also spotted my first local Painted Lady and Small Heath of the year on Nant y Gamar. @cofnod

Duck spotting at a very still and atmospheric Llyn Cefni. Plenty of wildfowl on the water, including this smart drake Goldeneye displaying to a female in the late morning sun.
Birding in the winter sun on Anglesey today. 2 Peregrine & a f. Scaup at Cors Ddyga. Great wader selection feeding with the Brents on the Inland Sea. Goldeneye and a f. Common Scoter too. 4 Slav. Grebes in Beddmanarch Bay. @AngBirdNews

Ace weekend at Spurn on our ‘NW Birders Trip’. Plenty of birds on the move with streams of Whoopers, Pinkies, Thrushes, Finches etc. Yank Wigeon and LT Duck on the wetlands and a lovely evening at Welnick watching Hen + Marsh Harriers, Merlin, Barn Owl, Spotshank and Jack Snipe.
Slow start at @spurnbirdobs with 2 Bearded Tits, 3 Coal Tit + many Brambling. Then to @tophilllow for 2 Blue-winged Teal, drake Ring-necked Duck, Black-necked Grebe, fem. Greater Scaup + a chorus of Marsh Frogs!! @ZSpaull @dafyddeds19 @birdingwithlevi @jonniprice @AliceMCousens
Blues galore in the fields around Bryn Pydew this afternoon! Common blue, brown argus and small coppers all in attendance, along with the usual supporting cast of speckled wood, gatekeeper, meadow brown and more. Now for a post-transect pint! 😂🦋
