Let's hope Google's 'Project Relate' can help make their voice interface accessibility better. It seems like a positive step and should mean more than just better voice recognition. Tackling 'atypical' speech requires embracing additional contextual needs. #accessibility

worth clarifying here: I'm aware that not all of the recommendations (especially the ones I'm most excited about lol) from Appendix N were adopted into the main report! please read and share Appendix N—it's part of the work we can do to turn these hopeful recs into reality

but I have so much hope. some of the things in #Astro2020 (esp Appendix N) are things I never expected to see in a NASEM report: real, actionable recommendations! statements that mention concepts like "restorative justice" and "cultural knowledge"!

Congrats to all the institutions that are already ahead of the curve! The Decadal Survey for Astronomy recommends DROPPING the GRE & Physics GRE for graduate admissions since they are NOT INDICATIVE of success and shown to be barriers to access. #inclusivity

I have held on to things too long. The practice of letting go in order to pick something up is valuable and tough. Gibor Basri's #blackinphysics week article reflects on what people can accomplish by constantly shifting priorities to combat burnout. blackinphysics.org/2021/10/29/pri…

I remember being told to follow my passion - NOT about the potential pitfalls. Danielle Speller, in her #blackinphysics article, reflects on how her passion led to her identity tied up in her career and in turn led to burnout. That is hard-fought wisdom. blackinphysics.org/2021/10/27/hol…

I admire @__katrinarenee In her #blackinphysics week article, she reflects on burnout and the conscious choices she had to make in order to combat the pressure of being a black woman in one of the least diverse sciences. It is relatable and real. blackinphysics.org/2021/10/26/i-h…

Last year, many got to work #DEI initiatives that mostly ended up being talk - the kind of talk leading to ‘the great resignation’. #Blackinphysics week is helping people through that burnout this week and @keniThacker showed actionable direction at #AdobeMAX. Support the work.

For anyone who follows @chrisunkim or appreciates @BTS_twt inspired dance moves, you can understand the joy of seeing @VidmanBarber sharing their #ASL moves tonight at #blackinphysics week’s open house. Sign up to join the community at the online event @ blackinphysics.org
