Want to re-urbanize American cities? The key is keeping couples in our cities and stopping them from moving out in the first place. This starts with having attainable housing options that couples can actually grow a family in. Townhomes, multi-plexes, and family apartments.
Terraforming our cities for the automobile makes them uninhabitable for humans. Cities built for cars are loud, polluted, hostile, ugly and have hugely elevated crash injury risk for any humans attempting to traverse them; especially people on foot or bikes.
