What is the future of cattle genetics? Genetic data to revolutionize the supply chain and win on sustainability.

In the lead-up to #NCBA #cattlecon, we're sharing our latest blog from @hoffsbeefs, who predicts that by 2040, sequencing will be the default tool for cattle management. Read more here bit.ly/3vVzhgN or get in touch to chat at #NCBA #cattlecon in Orlando this week!

FOUR key things in the past 20-30 years are causing the physical world to electrify: 1) magnets got way better, enabling high torque permanent magnet motors.

The world is undergoing a technological shift that might look superficial, but is actually very deep and fundamental. Electricity is defeating combustion. noahpinion.blog/p/the-triumph-…

I assume that by exporting its highly efficiently produced food, Denmark is relieving the greenhouse gas balance in the importing countries? What would happen if these countries had to produce food themselves?

I have to say after thinking about it this week (not enough reading) a unilateral tax on food production seems like a terrible idea. They will contract the amount of hyper efficient Danish production and shift to Eastern European production or international production of pork.

The Supreme Court just struck down the Chevron Doctrine which has poisoned our country in recent decades. This is a *seismic* ruling. The people we elect to make the laws aren’t the ones who actually make the laws today, it’s unelected bureaucrats in the administrative state.…

Ok #popgen tweeps- How steep is the learning curve for G-PhoCS? Is it the best option to infer populations splits and timing of migration bands of several populations?

Yes we are collecting data on laser weeding performance, but we are also helping to train models. The system wasn’t accurately shooting common ragweed and smartweed…pictures of the species were taken and incorporated into new programming

New from our lab: @ruwaa_mo has been working to optimize a 3' RNA-Seq approach for cost-effective molecular phenotyping in cattle. This work was funded by @AG2PI and is a critical part of our toolbox for multiple ongoing projects. #phenotypeisking biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
