No better way to finish the SPC-@Meta Llamathon, celebrate the release of new @AIatMeta Llama models, and dive into @finkd’s founder mindset than to host Mark Zuckerberg at SPC! Along with some special guests. 🦙🦙🦙

wowza!

💯

10 years of ML experience and all I have to show for it is a sharp intuition for when projects will be harder than they sound.

big unlock!

This is huge: Llama-v2 is open source, with a license that authorizes commercial use! This is going to change the landscape of the LLM market. Llama-v2 is available on Microsoft Azure and will be available on AWS, Hugging Face and other providers Pretrained and fine-tuned…

Keynote 1: @geoffreyhinton Addresing a central question: Do LLMs understand what they are saying? Making the comparison with humans: - Does making mistakes implies you don't understand anything? - Don't we also confabulate/hallucinate? (albeit differently) 🧵(1/6)

Wow. @Meta commits to dedicate three engineer-years to implement the removal of the GIL from #Python and fix upcoming compatibility and performance issues with it. All this dependent on whether the Steering Council accepts PEP 703. discuss.python.org/t/a-fast-free-…

Finally got @GitHub co-pilot chat for vscode! Been using @GitHubCopilot day 1 since it's first beta release back in 2021 and the chat function now pretty much removes the need for chatGPT.

based

AI Twitter is flooded with low-quality stuff recently. No, GPT is not “dethroned”. And thin wrapper apps are not “insane”. At all. I feel obligated to surface some quality posts I bookmarked. Every one of them should've been promoted 10x, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In no particular order:

😂

Remember when naïve hackers were called script kiddies? What would be the equivalent designation for folks who think they are AI experts after a couple hours of LLM prompt engineering? Prompt kiddies?

Language models went through their bulking phase. Next up - the cutting phase! Hopefully no paleo.

(almost) peak hype

AutoGPT just exceeded PyTorch itself in GitHub stars (74k vs 65k). I see AutoGPT as a fun experiment, as the authors point out too. But nothing more. Prototypes are not meant to be production-ready. Don't let media fool you - most of the "cool demos" are heavily cherry-picked: 🧵

This is huge!

Want to super-charge your LLM AI agents with the power of knowledge?!? Announcing HyperDB: a blazing-fast semantic search vector database for use with LLM Agents. github.com/jdagdelen/hype… Retweet this and I'll give you early access via DM. Now accepting SAFEs at a $35M cap.

Before we can get to "God-like AI" we'll need to get through "Dog-like AI".

1/Many AI businesses are searching for moats. A data moat strengthens your defenses if the data is hard to replicate. But if a business offers direct access to a ML model's output (like many LLMs), competitors can use that output as labeled training data, circumventing the moat.

Here's a video of my conversation with @ylecun about the proposed 6 month AI pause. I would love to hear what you think of the AI pause -- please reply to share your thoughts! youtube.com/watch?v=BY9KV8…
