If you like 3D graphics, I wrote a high-level post on the difference between Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). It's a ten min read, and aims to educate those not as familiar with the field of neural rendering. Link and some snippets below. 1/5

Unintended side effect of Apple's Continuity Camera (using your iPhone as a mac webcam) is that I can access it via OpenCV, which makes it really easy to prototype vision applications via Python on a mobile camera source. No iOS dev necessary and not compute-constrained. Amazing

ah, i've forgotten you my friend tfw you start sweating because an old program starts crashing because of a dependency install in the recent versions but that dopamine hit when you figure it out *chef's kiss*

My god I just spent 1+ hour renaming an iOS project (including target and product names) and the corresponding Git repos and folders. It shouldn't have been this hard

Uninstalled Cursor. It's great, but I feel like it doesn't provide much more value over Copilot + Claude/GPT. There were just too many problems with it (can't use remote windows, problems with extensions, etc.) that outweighed the benefits. Will be keeping up-to-date though!

haters will hate but it’s still a $10k prototype, wake me up when orion is actually shipped

oooh this is big

Today at #MetaConnect we announced support for immersive PWAs in the Quest browser. Soon you will be able to deploy your #WebXR site to the #Meta Horizon store like any other app. Here is some preliminary documentation: developers.meta.com/horizon/docume…

Hi, I'm Josh, and I’m the Founder and CEO of Madow. Today we’re officially launching SpatialGlass, a screen protector that turns your iPhone display 3D and lets you view Spatial Photos and Videos in glasses-free 3D RIGHT on your iPhone screen! Read this thread to learn more!

another example of how distribution is so key because without the mkbhd brand name this app would fall flat

And now - I'm so pumped to be launching this app! People have asked where I get wallpapers FOREVER, so this is the answer, now and forever: PANELS! @panels_art Available on iOS or Android panels.art

XR is split in three groups: - PCVR - Quest developers - Spatial computing enthusiasts Each of them have a VERY different perception of the price, quality, purpose and future of the platform. If you have an opinion, there's a high chance the other two groups don't agree.

First day working/coding from the @getviture Pro XR glasses! Spent a lot of time remote working on the other end of the spectrum with heavy but high res headsets, so curious to see how this compares.

good example of why people in vr should stop creating “virtual shopping experiences” or virtual anything just to be 3d. use 3d when it helps, otherwise keep things at 2d which is more ergonomic, functional, performant, and easily designed

This is probably the biggest takeaway of today’s Visor event The only demo that was functioning was a non-headtracked (0DoF) video For a product that has had so much skepticism for it “not being real”, not having a functioning demo for a reveal/launch event is… super sus

ya, it's just a "theater mode" video, unfortunately.
