@gsalgeog we love any demography data - Women in England and Wales had an average of 1.44 children in 2023, the lowest rate on record. Average age of new mums and dads has increased to 33.8 for fathers and 30.9 for mothers #demography #ageing @PopnMatters

Just finished "Cod" - what a great read. A cod-look at European and North American history. Full of great stories, truths and insights. And we have gained while Cod diminished. As Kurlansky says , "we (sic) are at the wrong end of a 1,000-year fishing spree." @MarkKurlansky
