Dear BBC , these are desperate times . The nation needs a lift and it needs sport . Please replay the 2012 Olympics as it happened for the next 2 weeks in prime time . Idea courtesy @je_sanderson

Hard time of year for a lot of folks. Suicide Hotline 116 123 (Samaritans) A simple copy and paste might save someone's life. Would 3 Twitter friends please copy this text and post under their own name? Pass it on…

I’m sorry to hear this news. The British people have lost a very good person - who listens, is loyal and doesn’t speak BS. Very disappointed for you Zac !

I lost my seat but I still feel like I won the lottery last night. The stakes could not have been higher and after all the division & paralysis the people were decisive. Makes me even prouder to be British!

Britain has said no to Corbyn, no to socialism and no to antisemitism. It has also, via the first past the post system, said an emphatic yes to Brexit. A lot of work to be done in the coming years in the press, the law and the NHS to hold these Tories to account.

Take a break from politics - now this is a picture and emotions that make me really proud. Great effort by this younger brother 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This could be Labour's worst performance since it became one of the natural parties of government. Huge question for the party now about whether it wants to become an influential pressure group or a contender to govern.

Another highlight of 2019 has to be this video of our resident seal, spotted at Teddington Lock by Hannah Peck. Has anyone seen him/her recently?! 💦 🎥: twitter.com/hannahlpeck #Teddington #LoveLocal

See you Bob , what a lovely man and such a shock. Thoughts with your family. #ripbobwillis

Yorkshire Cricket are devastated to hear of the passing of Bob Willis. One of the Headingley heroes from the 1981 Ashes triumph.
