At #COP29 the EU wants to agree a modern & effective climate finance framework for supporting developing countries after 2025 that reflects the growing investment needs, has a strong centre of public finance but also takes all sources of finance into account. 3/5
For the 🇪🇺, advancing a fair, just & green energy transition at #COP29 also means recognising this means no room for new coal, and advancing the phase out 🌍 unabated coal power - 2 key steps for contributing to a peak and decline in 🌍 fossil fuel consumption in the 2020s. 2/5
Is anyone tracking the number of @UNFCCC meetings / working groups / sub working groups countries are having to commit to? Seems to rise year on year.
Like it or not: Germany’s energy system is fully operational, with more than 50% renewables. And we are shutting down – not building – coal & nuclear plants. Coal will be off the grid by 2038 at the latest. PS: We also don’t eat cats and dogs. #Debate2024
