Police put their lives on the line to protect the public, including those that don't support the police. That's a very important fact to note. Duty, dedication, protect the community, even if they don't deserve it.

Had to cut a hole in the 'water' to let the barge sit level with the dock- I had planned for that. I am pleased it worked so precisely. I will add some gloss medium at the seam of water and hull to fill any gaps. Still need to build a tugboat, but not today!

Barge is done. Have to trim the hull to match the waterline of the bay, level it with the dock. This is all cheap 50 cent craft paint except primer red and black. All weathering is just variable densities of craft paint, washes, a bit of chalk. 100% scratchbuilt.

Building a model rail barge. All the plastic was cut with my laser cutter, details from 3D resin prints. 12.5" long. No plans, just me winging it. So far it us coming out awesome. With laser cut parts, it is square and true. Weathering this will be lot if fun!

Needed a mockup of a cold storage warehouse at the pier to test size, fitment, balance of function and visual interest. Foamcore with wood reinforcement works. If I like it, I will see about laser cutting a version out of wood or styrene.

Working on this area, getting trackwork done. Car ferry slip (dock) for rail barge is done and installed. Barge still to be built. Also, did you know pliers can float?

Does weathering make a difference in realism? The real world is a dirty place, and if you don't constantly clean and maintain equipment, it will collect dirt, mud, grime and rust. These identical hoppers were my examples. Watercolor pencils and chalks improve the look.

I am going to say something that will anger Star Trek fans greatly, but you'll just have to deal with it. I *like* Star Trek Lower Decks. I accept the tongue in cheek parody and can laugh at the silliness, and at myself for trying to be too serious about Trek.

Two #5 track switches (turnouts) in N scale. Commercial units are on long term backorder for over a year. Took time, but I made two more. These have hinged points versus solid for better performance. There is satisfaction making things yourself.

Fish and Chips, all you can eat, Skippers Seafood and Chowder House. Open for dine in and fill your gut. Soooooo buttery good.

More water and pier progress. Water effect is 95% cured clear. I finished the pier, added track, painted and installed. Still need to add more rocks, debris, and weather things. Oh, and connect the track and scratchbuild a rail barge.

Gliss medium applied as a sealer on the first coat, then a second coat applied once dry to give it more texture with ripples and wavelets. It will settle some as it dries and be less pronounced. It should dry clesr overnight. This is about $4 in materials. Results tomorrow!

Seabed for the harbor painted black and greenish tan airbrushed near the shore. It will give a subtle variation in color which sets the perceived depth to the viewer.

Who drank an energy drink at 1 am to finish commissions and is still wide awake at 4 am? This roo! Time to crash.

GIMMICKS AND GADGETS! This rinse water brush cleaning bottle station is clearly a gimmick. It's dumb, stupid, and a complete waste of your time. So I bought it. IT IS AWESOME AND YOU WANT ONE NOW. I heartily endorse this. amazon.com/Masterson-Rins…

Working on a concrete seawall for a pier and dock. Made of flat styrene shapes, this scratchbuilt model was sprayed in grey primer then brush painted with cheap craft acrylics. Several layers applied to build up the overall look, which I think worked here.

Thin mix of drywall mud. When this cures, you can sand it, but a wet sponge does a good job of smoothing it over. I will try painting in deep black, blue snd muddy green to similate depth, then cover it in thick gloss medium to simulate choppy water of a sea bay.

Painted the abutment and glued in place. Towers were leveled with shims. Pilings positioned to protect the dock. Ready for a soupy mixture of wallboard mud to level it all out.
