🔍🦠🦗 𝗣𝗵𝗗 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲! Work with me, @MartaShocket, and @maxjfarrell building information systems and large language models to capture key biological host-pathogen relations from literature - that could control crop pests or conserve biodiversity! 1/2

In a new preprint with @mwtingley @MHCNeateClegg @BrettScheffers & many others, we ask: What is it really like to be a #speciesonthemove? Is the way we study them misaligned with how they experience the world? And could this misalignment explain why we can't better predict SOTM?

National media hasn't grasped the severity of the flooding in Appalachia. Entire downtowns and highways are gone, homes washed away, many without power, cell service, or escape routes. We are one of the poorest regions in the U.S. and many won’t recover. Our region needs help.

Flooding in Western NC / Appalachia MTNs from Hurricane Helene was very very bad. Photos still coming... They need serious help up there.

The water receded at Biltmore Village today revealing the devastation. I have been in this area many times, and today it was not recognizable. Now that the water is gone the rebuilding process can begin #helene #ncwx #asheville
