Our friend & colleague, U of Arizona feminist geographer Janice Monk, passed away peacefully in Tucson on Friday, July 12th 2024 age 87. Jan was a brilliant scholar & generous mentor, devoting herself to research on gender & support for women & the minoritized in geography. RIP.

Pundits can’t fathom the idea that students are simply *protesting genocide and demanding divestment* because they can’t imagine political action motivated by sincerely held beliefs. They’ve probably never experienced the power and joy of collective action. I feel sorry for them
If you’re faculty at a university where there are protests, remember there are lots of ways to support, publicly & privately, tenured or not. Here’s a few: -Know your faculty rights & rules -Amplify protest info on your social media, privately to colleagues or in class
