Some belated news. I've started a new job as Researcher/Assistant Curator @SlaveryMuseum Fans of my bland 🏏⚽🥊 opinions may find timelines interrupted as I get back in swing of 'work Twitter'. email: Alexander.Scott@liverpoolmuseums.org.uk

We believe in an inclusive approach to exploring our past, reflecting & representing multiple experiences. The Rogan family purchased enslaved people to work on their home & plantation to bolster their own wealth. Learn how we're sharing their stories → bit.ly/40m1vhX

Very pleased to receive my copy of In Slavery's Wake. The book accompanies @NMAAHC's forthcoming touring exhibition and a global curatorial project. Cool to share pages with @SlaveryMuseum colleagues and top scholars from around the world. nmaahc.si.edu/explore/exhibi…

‘It’s our history, it’s the UK’s history and instead of it being hidden, it needs to be recognised, remembered and reconciliation needs to happen’ Michelle Charters on the importance of Slavery Remembrance Day in @guardian Thank you @nehagohil24 ✍🏽 theguardian.com/uk-news/articl…

This was a great lecture. Really enjoyed listening to Fiona Compton speak and tie together some many different threads. Looking forward to the remembrance walk tomorrow.

Everyone at Liverpool’s Town Hall this evening will remember the poignant and powerful words of our keynote speaker, Fiona Compton for a long time to come. A fitting way to mark the 25th anniversary of Liverpool’s Slavery Remembrance Day commemorations.

Loved 'The Valleys' exhibition @AmgueddfaCymru Beautiful array of artworks, thoughtfully, lovingly curated and co-curated: the section by Dowlais Visual Art Group was outstanding. The whole thing really felt 'of' South Wales.** ( **from my non-native p-o-v, admittedly.)

Really enjoyed @HistoryLabPlus conference. Lots of interesting papers and @SlaveryMuseum curators got useful feedback about our ideas for displaying histories of slavery and abolition. Thanks to all the organisers and @WilberforceHull for hosting two stimulating days.

@SlaveryMuseum’s Alexander Scott convincingly argues for the relevance today of The Hunted Slaves (1861) by Richard Ansdell: constructed by a white, male gaze, but also engages with enslaved people’s use of ‘hostile’ natural spaces to facilitate resistance #HistoryLabPlus2024

Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of Professor Trevor Burnard. A foremost expert on transatlantic slavery, his pioneering work and generosity as a scholar will be deeply missed.

We are deeply saddened by the death of Professor Trevor Burnard. A world-leading historian, Trevor served as Director of the Wilberforce Institute from November 2019 to June 2024, while holding the Wilberforce Chair in Slavery. hull.ac.uk/research/insti…

Caught up with the highlights and well-earned tributes on a melancholic day. Still think he should be in the team but really glad he got a decent send off. #GOAT🐐 #Jimmy 🌹

Nice piece about colleagues' work @walkergallery 'Carving Out Truths' has introduced new artworks and perspectives to the sculpture gallery, and really livened up the place in the process. Well worth a trip to William Brown St! theguardian.com/uk-news/articl…

BBC pundits chatting "get rid of extra time" shite. What about Spain-Germany just hours ago? How much better was Merino's goal than whoever 'wins' this? Problem isn't tiredness but negativity from players & managers. Neither side tried to play well let alone force a win.#PORFRA

Off yer pop, dickhead.

Busy, productive week. Represented @SlaveryMuseum at 'Troubled relationships: Church and society in dealing with the colonial legacy' in Würzburg. Managed some good museuming either side of the conference. Decolonial walking tour of Berlin's African Quarter probably my highlight.

Horrible news. RIP Super Kev.

Everyone at Everton is deeply saddened by the death of our former striker Kevin Campbell at the age of just 54. Not just a true Goodison Park hero and icon of the English game, but an incredible person as well - as anyone who ever met him will know. RIP, Super Kev. 💙

Yesterday, we were able to inform the employer that our members had voted with a large majority to accept their latest offer. We are glad this dispute is now concluded with long-term benefits to our members as well as a needed cost-of-living payment. Solidarity! ✊️

Long time coming but it's a relief this is over. Very grateful to @PCSLiverpoolMus branch committee for getting us here. Four months of picket lines, through wet, windy waterfront days - and yet the comradeship & camaraderie made it a positive experience. Up the workers! ✊🪧
