The network was set to be finished in 1 year. The folks who sued to stop the bike lanes just moved that to 3.5 years. @Marc_C_McGovern offered @PattyNolan1 a compromise of 2.5 years. Why can't anyone who voted for this delay articulate a single thing that will be gained from it?
@WBUR covered the @CambMA 2 year bike lane delay with Councilors Pickett and @VoteJivan I made it on the radio for a quick minute as well! 📻 It's an interesting discussion. Some brief thoughts below. @cambbikesafety @StreetsBoston @WalkMass @MassBike wbur.org/radioboston/20…
Hoping the community will get answers. Happy to collaborate w @realBurhanAzeem @DennisCarlone asking @MassDCR @MassEEA to review their decision with the new information.
It’s an injustice to have a highway divide the Riverbend community from the river, creating danger, noise and pollution. Riverbend Park corrects this on the weekends, providing access to open space that is easy to get to. #CambMA

Every year, North American communities spend, on average, per person: $50 on sidewalks and crosswalks $180 on public transit subsidies $1,000 on public roads and traffic services More than $2,000 per capita on government-mandated parking facilities
Being forced into car dependency by decades of public policies and infrastructure investments that made getting around without driving difficult, undignified, and dangerous ≠ an inherent, unshakable love for cars and nothing else.
Boston Bike Party 10 Year Anniversary! July 28, 2023 @ 7:00pm Copley Square
A few days early for me to repost these old STW on July 4th, but the SCOTUS decisions of the past few days makes them seem more appropriate today
Say it with me “Inclusionary Zoning isn’t an affordable housing tool. It’s a desegregation tool”… that we use in place of broad based affordable housing tools because many middle class homeowners decided they had no responsibility to contribute towards affordable housing.
The Wu administration is considering delaying proposed affordability requirements on market-rate housing developers in Boston from early 2024 until later next year, in the hope that the economy will be on stronger footing by then. bizjournals.com/boston/news/20…
A good reminder that 75% of Boston- area voters support "bike lanes that are separated from cars, even if it means less space for cars." massincpolling.com/the-topline/bo…
Support your local bike lanes! Email the city, email BTD, email @MayorWu and tell them how much you value safety! The bike lanes on Boylston, Berkley and frankly everywhere need to happen, and happen asap! These designs are safe, and YES there has been community input…
It's awesome seeing Salem making @RideBluebikes a real regional transportation option. Looking for more cities to follow their lead. Would love to see every city with a regional rail stop to have BB, so you could make many train+bike trips
#SalemMA has just added three new @ridebluebike stations and 18 additional bikes. With support from a Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization Community Connections grant, new stations were deployed in Vinnin Square, Bridge Street Neck, and on Derby Street. 🚲🚲🚲
The Sumner tunnel closure is expected to produce miles of traffic. Getting around it might be intimidating on bike but here's a very helpful guide to make your trip easier! mass.gov/info-details/h…
"share the road" doesn't work when the people with multi-ton vehicles want to kill you
At a business mixer tonight an attendee heard I had biked to the event and said “I hate bicyclists so much. I would absolutely run you over and kill you if we left here at the same time. You don’t belong on the road.” Two hours later and I’m still processing all of it.
Reminder that the term “jaywalking” was propagated by auto industry lobbyists to demonize people walking in streets, as they have done for thousands of years, in order to monopolize the space for cars.
The bike traffic in Boston this morning was verging on congestion. Holy cow. So amazing to see so many people out riding. If you build it (and your transit system is failing), they will def come.
