Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to ask Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at the @HarvardIOP about how to improve justice and equity in our transportation systems. @SecretaryPete

This year for Halloween, I am MASSIVE ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE MBTA. As your State Rep., I have consistently fought to tax the rich and large corporations so we can fund bigger investments in public transit. This work is starting to pay off — and there’s lots more to do! 🚊💰

100% true story: when I was in pre-school, there was exactly one of my close friends that my parents wouldn’t let me go play to their house (because my folks didn’t trust their parenting). And it turns out the mom of this friend was…Jill Stein.

Thank you Boston Mayor Wu for creating a connected protected bike network for everyone of all ages and abilities. @MayorWu @jfh @BostonPWD

Disabled person commutes to Boston Public Library by eTrike with wheel chair in cargo bay. Protected Bike Lanes serves everybody with all abilities!

With over 1200 crashes, 446 injuries, and 4 fatal crashes, we need action now on all of Memorial Drive. @MassDCR @MassGovernor we need your help to redesign this dangerous highway into a safe and equitable Cambridge Esplanade.

🚘💥🚶 Friday 10/04/2024 at 8:59 AM: A motorist and a pedestrian were involved in a collision in Cambridgeport near 808 MEMORIAL DRIVE. 1 person was injured and 1 person was transported to the hospital.

This is great news @MassDCR and @MikeConnollyMA (@thebostonlol) But let's not stop there. Just 100' down the road we have a 6' mixed use path that has been in disrepair for decades, a road that encourages speeding with no barrier, and two intersections with broken ped. signals!

We have issued the following advisory for Memorial Drive:

Watching bike traffic in Inman Square will cure me of all my problems.

Newly released study shows that separated bike lanes reduce maximum car speeds by 28%, average speeds for turning cars by 21%, and 8% for cars going straight. If cities want to reduce speeding, they should install separated/protected bike lanes—it’ll also get more people biking!

I was devastated to hear of yet another cyclist death in @CambMA, the third in just a few months. We must do everything we can to make our streets safer, without delay. @cambbikesafety

Mobility justice is about accessible, safe, and equitable movement. I’m so thrilled to be leading #WeekWithoutDriving in Cambridge next week with @cambbikesafety From 9/30-10/6, we encourage everyone to travel outside of cars, considering the challenges non-drivers face daily.

Three cyclists have died this year in Cambridge, including John Corcoran this week on Memorial Drive. We've long known the dangerous conditions on Memorial Drive and in our streets. Last year, we penned a letter to DCR to make changes. It's time DCR step up and take cyclists…

Hundreds of people came together to ask our elected officials to make improvements on Memorial Drive, or just to listen or meet with us. Our Mayor, multiple councilors, state reps. Crickets. It's time to fix this injustice and harm @MassGovernor @EEASecretary @BrianArrigoDCR

remembering the last memorial drive protest to get @MassDCR to listen to the public. @MikeConnollyMA spoke at this rally. I don't think DCR made a single change since then.

The driver had control of the vehicle turning off the bridge, but allegedly lost control in a few hundred feet, getting to a dangerous speed. It just does not add up. I don't understand why @MassStatePolice is repeating the driver's assertion before the investigation is complete

Today, I reached out to @MassStatePolice to ask why there’s been no arrest or if there’s a citation for the driver of a Mercedes SUV, who according to reports, lost control of his vehicle and struck and killed Newton cyclist John Corcoran on the sidewalk by the DeWolfe Boathouse.
