The best way for us to honor our veterans is to only send our men and women in uniform into harm's way as a last resort, when no other options exist, and actually take care of them and their families if and when they return home. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves,…
I increasingly worry that the AI regulation fight in the US has been substantively lost already--without any major bills passed, a testament to the virulence of our administrative state. California is well on its way to implementing a big chunk of, basically, the EU AI Act, and…
Turns out heart tissue cells remember quite a lot...
We think that all memory is stored in the brain. But our study published today in @NatureComms shows that all cells—even kidney cells—can count, detect patterns, store memories, and do so similarly to brain cells. My first (co)corresponding author paper!🧵nature.com/articles/s4146…
These people are the most self-deluded, pompous and ignorant on the planet, and fully deserve all the hatred and distrust they've earned. They're going to sit there and pretend that there's no pro-Dem part of the media the way the right has -- when everyone knows they are it.
No self awareness! @lbarronlopez, a correspondent for PBS, while on CNN, blamed Kamala Harris loss on how “there is an entire right wing media ecosystem that doesn’t exist on the left and it does not exist in the center or mainstream.”
We are often so focused on being right that we miss the advantage of simply avoiding stupidity.
The left isn't gonna learn anything from this, are they

In my experience, people who think this concern is minor or not commensurate with (even low likelihood of) more straightforward AI doom… just don't mind the idea of a one world nanny state government. But I believe it can get really bad, yes, commensurate with extinction.
I saw the greatest minds of my generation waste 1000 hours fixating on their breath with no insights or lasting effects bc they read the mind illuminated
This is how the NYT and media outlets have long been the US's leading censorship activists. If any Big Tech platform doesn't censor who the NYT wants, they call them and say: "we're going to write an article on how you're platforming these bad people." Then they publish it:
This article is effectively trying to strongarm YouTube into censoring voices that the New York Times disapproves of. Shameful behavior from a newspaper.
Naked grab for regulatory capture. Morally corrupt politics at its sleaziest. 👎 anthropic.com/news/the-case-…
The bulk of the AI safety movement is wholeheartedly devoted to centralizing AI into a handful of opaque, black box, oligopolistic, unaccountable big companies. 🫣
Everything here seems great. Excellent job by both Daniel Kokotajlo and Dean Ball here, you love to see it. Transparency is the part we should all be able to agree upon, no matter our other disagreements.
