"Do traditional movements (squats, deadlifts, etc.) loaded at near max intensities produce high forces, or can you manipulate components of the Force equation (F = M x A) to expose athletes to higher peak ground reaction forces?" 📈 @Huntereis_sc #Force simplifaster.com/articles/force…
Programming exercise for young coaches: You can only pick 4 exercises per day: - Two Lower Body - Two Upper Body Did you do it? Ok that's Day 1 Now do that two more times Those are Days 2 + 3 There's your week program Just add a jump/throw/sprint and you're good to go
The experience of pain is many times more dependent on: What you’re told about why you hurt… Your own beliefs of your ability to heal… The environment where you got hurt… Who was around you when it happened… ….It’s not always about muscles, bones, nerves and tendons.
Most effective way to flush out swelling from a joint… Movement. Repeated Muscle contraction. …also really good for pain control.
I just have trouble reconciling this with many international “evidenced based” organizations teaching dogma about SIJ manipulation or “faulty movement patterns” endorsed by @jospt Who is the arbiter of best evidence?

I had a class that always came into the gym and started climbing, swinging, playing...before the PE lesson started. I got told by the school, it´s a lack of discipline and too dangerous and I have to make them stop that. ⬆️This is why many young athletes have poor motor skills
Just having some discussions with @Neurodynamics @michael_bann and @CiccioFazul and I was amazed there is not a lot of research addressing this in high level athletics. I believe this is more prevalent than we currently think or know IMO.
"There has to be a feel difference between the old pattern and the new pattern." - Dr. Rose on the importance of naming a "feel" to help cue/teach a new pattern.
As a coach, being able to help your athlete associate a feeling with a pattern is critical in being able to teach them a new pattern. Dr. Rose explains: (This is from the Motor Learning chapter in our online hitting course).

Novel ideas and concepts in "Anatomy of Agility": Phase transitions are key for understanding complex sport actions and for understanding injury risk. Clean phase transitions are key to performance and (non-contact) injury prevention in all open skill sports
Starting rehab with slow, low force movement is like ‘whispering to a deaf person'. Tradeoff between degrees of freedom and inertia is key. When starting rehab with high force, the degrees of freedom in joints need to be reduced for safety.
The hyper flexor cluster from our recent paper travels through the most range compared to stiff flexors and hip flexors. Hyper flexors also tend to demonstrate the greatest joint extension velocities relative to the other clusters!
Numerous studies demo foot muscle hypertrophy when removing support of the arch. While it seems intuitive, this is the first published study to demo that adding support results in foot muscle atrophy after only 12 weeks of orthotic use! Nice work!! #strengtheningoverbracing
