Awful.
The County of #Northumberland is a rugged, mountainous shire. Pre-1707 union, the county was on the border of the Kingdoms of England & Scotland. This left it a restless and often war-torn land. The largest town is Newcastle upon Tyne. 🇬🇧 #HistoricCounties | #RealCounties 🏴

About to start my second lecture in my series on Lloyd George @WeareExplore This one will be looking at Lloyd George's politics at the time of the Liberal government in the run up to the First World War.

Well…blimey! I think this could actually be the point when the Tory party ceases to be a movement contending for government. Lib Dems now have a very serious responsibility and opportunity to fill the gap. This is our moment.
Conservative Party Leadership Election - 4th Round Result: Badenoch: 42 (+12) Jenrick: 41 (+10) Cleverly: 37 (-2) James Cleverly has therefore been eliminated. Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick progress to the member's vote.
I very much doubt this is the case! I will not see mine or my colleagues' professional integrity attacked. I see the right wing is looking for its scapegoats again. Shame on this discredited, reactionary form of Conservatism.
Kemi Badenoch says that young Conservatives are being marked down by their universities because of their politics. No evidence whatsoever provided for this
This is the most chillest cat I've ever seen.

Thanks so much to my former colleagues at Newcastle City Council for awarding me the title of Honorary Alderman of the City yesterday. I was very touched. I dedicate this award to all the residents, community representatives, Council officers, and councillors I worked with.
We do not choose the era to live in but we are definitely capable of changing the course of history. And this gives great hope. Happy Independence Day, my invincible country 💙💛
It was great to meet up for an event officiated by Cllr Henry Gallagher, Sheriff of Newcastle. It is Ukrainian Flag Day, and events across the country help to draw attention to Putin's dreadful war and the resilience of the Ukrainian people and their sacrifices.
Not a promising sign from the new government. I thought we has kicked out the Tories to usher in an era of better governance.
Let us stay true to this vision of a Liberal Party. The Liberal Challenge (1963) pg. 1963.
A very interesting analysis of the election had it been conducted under a system of Proportional Representations. Obviously, a different system might have created different voting patterns but well done @BallotBoxScot for some thoughtful assessment.
🧵THREAD: UK #GE24 UNDER PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION This was the least representative election in the UK's democratic history. Millions of votes didn't count. "What if we had PR?" is talked about, but mostly in simple X% votes = X% seats terms. This is a detailed model.
Interesting further proof of the deep economic damage wrought by Brexit. Lesson for new Govt is clear: blaming the “last 14 years” may be good politics, but isn’t economically true. It was Brexit in 2016 that threw the UK economy – then fastest growing in the G8 – into reverse.…

A beautiful golden display in our new Parliament. Well done @LibDems on our historic performance - best in over 100 years. It seems a far cry from the dark days of 2015.
