Using IRS migration data we see a troubling pattern - if Oregon doesn’t pay attention, we’ll tax and program our state into an impossible hole to dig out of. 2016-17: +34K tax payers & +$1.6B AGI (basically taxable income) 2018-19: +15K / +$780M !! 2020-21: -9K / -$122M !!

Oh no. Oh no. Oh no.

"Under the new policy, the MultCo will continue to distribute tents & tarps until there is 'sufficient shelter & affordable housing capacity to make the distribution of tents and tarps unnecessary.'" "The new rules do not require vote or public hearing." oregonlive.com/politics/2024/…

It is good that the country figured out how to count votes again quickly. Most of the country achieved over 90% up to 99% last night. @multco ? 40% counted last night. That isn’t good enough. Are the highest taxes in the country not enough?

Why does @multco make life so hard for everyone? If you go to rcvresults.multco.us to try and get results and it shows results - but no where tells you it is just 39% of the vote - which I’m not even sure if that is right as I think I found it on another website…

Crazy. The money doesn’t lie - but the politicians do.

Why is the Oregon House Democrats' PAC listed as a top donor to an outside group promoting progressive candidates in nonpartisan Portland races where nearly office seeker is a registered Dem? My attempt to follow the money, which raises more Qs than As. oregonlive.com/politics/2024/…

This isn’t news is it? It is kind of like saying the grass is green…

Teachers unions are motivated more by self-interest than student outcomes when choosing whether to endorse school board members for reelection, a recently published study found. katu.com/news/nation-wo…

So long to the Goat - Sinclair. Great player. Means so much to Portland. A true champion.

Portland’s voting is complicated. The measures confusing. Portland govt explanation on how councillor votes counted convoluted and incomplete. Several young voters have said it is too complicated so didn’t vote. Also didn’t understand you can skip parts of the ballot.

NEW: Turnout in deep blue Multnomah County, OR is down 73% vs. this stage of the 2020 election, and down around 50% compared to historic avg. Potential causes include complicated voting in Portland, the pandemic affecting 2020 and depressed Dems. #orpol (image: @horvick )

A burning platform. Keep electing incumbents you’ll get the same results.

Here's what to know about the new test score release from @ORDeptEd: 🍎After 3 years back in buildings since the pandemic, OR students are still just where they were in the 21-22 school year: way, way behind in reading+math when compared to pre-COVID. /🧵 oregonlive.com/education/2024…

It is so sad that Oregon continues to put kids last. It started during Covid and hasn’t ended. And the Oregon representatives and governors and leaders that care more about their own power continue to be re-elected and elevated. Want change? Elect differently.

BREAKING: Oregon statewide student assessment results continue downward trend in 2023-24 school year. Want to see the data? You can easily see results for the whole state or individual school districts by grade & student group here: public.tableau.com/app/profile/jm…

“Measure 118 is almost entirely funded by outside interests from California and New York. They view Oregon citizens as lab rats,” Notes of measure 110. Can Oregonians be duped again? Hope not. Over-taxing employers will just chase jobs away and further Oregons brain drain.

More evidence why Oregon's Measure 118 is a bad idea. Oregon will be voting on a form of Universal Basic Income (UBI) in November. The attached randomized, 3 year study, recently completed and the largest study of its kind, shows that a UBI results in less labor force…

Even Tina saw this initiative (funded by California) would have destroyed jobs chasing companies out of state.

Gov. Tina Kotek tells WW she opposes Initiative Petition 17, the November ballot measure which would raise taxes on Oregon corporations to fund a $750 check for each state resident. wweek.com/news/2024/07/3…

Zero education experience. Tons of county experience that resulted in the worst homelessness crisis in the country and not nearly enough treatment centers - but now will run day to day for PPS. Not optimistic about this one. We need less politics in schools and this is more.

"In a press release, the district says Kafoury will oversee philanthropic initiatives, climate justice initiatives, and strategic partnerships." 🤔 I'm super duper hyper skeptical. Link: tinyurl.com/fb33exye

Yikes. This is so sad. This debate shows how far the two party system in the USA has fallen. I think any reasonable person would agree neither of these people should be president.
