Ok, here it is. My analysis: Will RFK Jr. Make it to the HHS Secretary Office? And Will He Be Able to Enact his Changes? drvinayprasad.com/p/will-rfk-jr-…

I would not do this. NIH should still fund ID research. However, there are tons of ways to make NIH better. Grant giving should be subject to randomization. Having said this. This statement is not worse than what Collins actually did with his devotion to sequencing.

RFK Jr. said during his campaign that he would stop research on drug development and infectious diseases for eight years.

Peter hotez, the guy you cite, promoted cloth masking of 2-year-olds and school closure- that's anti-science. Believing in vaccines is not scientific either. Some vaccines are vital (MMR) Others are debatable (maternal RSV) and others net harmful (COVID in young men) No nuance.

I have 4 years of college, 5 years of PhD, 4 yrs Med School, 1 yr internship, 3 yrs residency, 2 yrs fellowship and 18 yrs of practice. I believe in science, I believe in vaccines. I believe in keeping my family and community safe. With none of those credentials, and armed with…

This article makes many good points. And is a stark contrast to the media frenzy. Tomorrow on drvinayprasad.com I go through RFK Jr positions in detail.

What does @RobertKennedyJr’s endorsement as secretary of @HHSGov mean for American science and public health? The status quo is no longer tenable. Read my piece with @DrJBhattacharya unherd.com/newsroom/rfk-j…

RFK Jr. poses a danger to public health, scientific research, medicine, and health care coverage for millions. He wants to stop parents from protecting their babies from measles and his ideas would welcome the return of polio. I have a lot of questions for his Senate hearing.

Reporters continue to do a disservice by treating these all as equals. MMR is not linked to autism with odds ratio 1.02 or higher. But there are differences between Nations in terms of childhood vaccination schedule, and these should be explored. My substack tomorrow....

The CDC still…STILL recommends masking two year olds and wants six months old babies to get an annual Covid booster shot without any evidence that they’re actually effective The public health messaging isn’t working because the messages are completely insane

Great @ProfEmilyOster piece about how to do public health messaging better Some public health experts believe the public can't handle nuance That's nonsense Talking to folks about the complexity of the evidence, tradeoffs, and strength of recommendations is good Want to…

But yes, please do go off on RFK. The problem is that the status quo is so incredibly bad, Alvin the chipmunk would be an improvement.

This is how Mandy Cohen the current CDC director made science decisions Here about OUTDOOR football Just asking friends like an amateur These people shouldn't talk

In 2022 @ashishkjha said God gave americans two arms-- for flu shots and covid boosters (which had no good data) Sorry Ashish "God gave American’s two arms: one to vote for Trump and the other to give thumbs up to RFK Jr." & you paved the way drvinayprasad.com/p/doctors-crit…

Indeed, vaccines have a rational use. For example, the cholera vaccine is useful as long as water supply and purification are improved. It is absurd to say that they ‘save lives’ or ‘work’, as it would be absurd to say for antibiotics, if one does not add ‘used correctly’.

This article explains why FDA is poorly run "VOLUNTARY" sodium targets will do jack shit In fact, a series of small micronutrient regulation will do jack shit, as Big Food will just make shit food that works around it I can't wait for Bob to be fired & go back to biopharma

As the saying goes, you are what you eat. And, unfortunately, the food we eat is only solidifying America’s tragic title: We have the lowest life expectancy among large high-income countries. Read more about the steps FDA is taking to help… statnews.com/2024/11/15/ult…

It has been bizarre watching @ashishkjha & Marks & Califf and others criticize @RobertKennedyJr for being 'anti-science' These docs abandoned science to help Biden ram through unethical vaccine mandates, to cloth mask 2 year olds and boost young men drvinayprasad.com/p/doctors-crit…

"You, mere peon, do not have enough medical degrees to tell us that Europe's schools are open. Go order some more Old Navy masks and leave the science to the experts. Now someone, please go fetch me Randi Weingarten. We have some science stuff here for her to edit."

Yes, @davidzweig got school openings and child masking right. The Ivy league, MD, MPH ignored what all of Europe was doing in realtime and got it wrong. But sure, use your credentials to pretend there was consensus among experts 🙄

What an important question, probably needs a few more papers (~100) on the topic. It's impossible of course that sicker people spend more time sitting and some of this is reverse causality.

1/ 🧑‍⚕️ Sitting too long? It could harm your heart. A new @JACCJournals study analyzed nearly 90,000 people & found 10.6+ hours/day of sedentary behavior increases risks of heart failure & cardiovascular mortality. Let's break it down: 👇 #AHA24 jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.…

This video is stunning. @davidzweig was 100% correct that schools should reopen and several pieces of data supported his contention that masking in schools did not make a difference. @ashishkjha was wrong & anti-science, and now he wonders why the public is sick of 'expert' BS

Get it straight: @JoeRogan is no right-winger. Yes, he voted for Trump in 2024. In the past he liked Bernie. He's pro-choice and pro-drugs. He's open-minded and curious. He's America's most famous swing voter, and the Harris campaign screwed this up. theamericansaga.com/p/joe-rogan-is…

Tom, would you be open to a live public discussion about this? I’d like the opportunity to explain that, in my opinion-- the erosion of public trust in science is an inevitable consequence of careerists like you and Marc Lipsitch failing to do your jobs. You were supposed to…

The Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services has extraordinary responsibilities, and the capacity at great scale to help make Americans' lives healthier and better, or worse. Major concerns about this nomination. Here is why and what's at stake...1/x 📷1
