Glufosinate mixes do work on annual ryegrass resistant to clethodim, glyphosate, paraquat, bixlozone (low level). All options tested post-emergence 12th June 24; 18/10C; ~350mm rain since; Mt Barker WA. First photos here: Untreated vs best treatment - 12 WAT. [thread 👇]

Maximus CL and Neo CL side by side. Neo’s plant architecture may offer some competition advantages if its other characteristics fit the system. Maximus doing nothing wrong and also looking strong.

Canola on BM legume going to be hard to beat again. Legume nitrogen allowing us to prioritise urea elsewhere while waiting for the next load. Will get a bit more urea in the next couple of days. #44Y94CL

A couple of Maximus CL / Neo CL comparisons. Pic1 Disc sown Maximus Pic2 Disc Neo Pic3 Tyne Maximus Pic4 Tyne Neo. Sunshine following the recent rain has made for a good start for many barley crops in my area. Good early biomass with relatively low foliar disease pressure.…

Canola enjoying a bit of N in front of 20mm of rain. Residue cover has kept the top pretty damp in between rains. Thought we’d beaten the slugs this year, the downside of keeping the surface moist and covered. #PY520TC @Joshuabell_04

Vetch/Pea’s thinking it’s September already. With some winter rain the biomass by September should be impressive….hopefully!

The cereal disease year is under way. Septoria tritici blotch from the slopes region of southern NSW. Crown rust in oats and wheat steak mosaic virus confirmed as well. Keep an eye on early sown grazing crops. @NSWDPI_AGRONOMY @s_simpfendorfer

2021 lupins have generated an extra $1300/ha worth of canola and wheat in 22 & 23 - without even accounting for any grain from the lupin crop

Canola following lupins in centre, canola following cereal left and right. NDVI from 21 July

Another pleasing Ultro/Reflex combination. Weed control whilst maintaining crop safety in pulses has sometimes been a challenging compromise.

Vetch/peas into consecutive cereal stubbles. Built excellent biomass, ground cover retained surface moisture all summer, canola off to a good start through a drying establishment period. 44Y94

2 wet blokes and not able to be sown in 22. With 100mm in March both took the opportunity to establish some early Illabo wheat to avoid a 22 repeat. Residue retained/disc and residue burnt/Tyne. Sown within a day of each other and both looking good.

With 100-120mm of rain over the last 3 weeks it’s easy to get nervous after the challenging 22 sowing. Currently providing an excellent start for some early sowing. Legumes into straw, matching soil N with the stubble supply of carbon. Building N, keeping grass weeds ⬇️

Peas appreciating the residue cover. I'm increasingly convinced from experience in the field that limiting soil rain splash by keeping the soil covered helps lower the incidence of Ascochyta.

Line where a fire got to last year. Residue vs no residue; the difference between a crop to harvest and nothing.
