💯percent need to comprehensively assess the nation’s drinking water quality! You may find it hard to believe this isn't done already, but it's not. It needs to be done, and soon...to prioritize and solve the most pressing public health concerns in U.S. drinking water.

The gist of our new report w/ @rcapinc: We reflect on what a comprehensive national assessment of drinking water quality compliance could look like based on: - the CA Needs Assessment - Talking to a lot of smart people - Some original data exploration innovation.luskin.ucla.edu/2023/04/27/new…

I often simplify it: Water is easy; people are hard!

Yes! This is so great! @leighterry_h2o is the best and will set a great standard as the @theh2otower's first visiting professor. Can't wait to see what comes from this! Congrats all!

We are very excited to welcome @leighterry_h2o as The Water Tower’s first visiting professor! Dr. Terry will be investigating PFAS and EOF in potable reuse #innovation #research

Great yet sobering Top 10 @jeremybmazur! I wish we had this much focus on water issues in every state. Progress to be made in 2023!

🧵 2022 was a big year for Texas water. The major events of this year are likely to inform #txlege water policy discussions in 2023. Here's my run-down of 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝟏𝟎 #𝐭𝐱𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 that I previously summarized on the @Texas2036 blog.

Great work @CaWaterBoards! So much to learn and apply in address water needs in CA and across the US. Everyone deserves safe, affordable, and reliable water!

Since 2019, our SAFER program has provided these solutions to #water systems in disadvantaged communities: -$700 million in grants to #water systems in disadvantaged communities -Consolidated of over 80 water systems -Reduced failing systems by 40% bit.ly/3R2ea2v

Grateful to @mjphillis and team for shining a light on struggling and failed water systems in the U.S. Unfortunately it’s far to easy to just let them slip below the radar. These are problems we can and must solve! Everyone deserves safe, reliable, and affordable water.

There are 10s of thousands of water providers in the U.S. and those serving smaller towns are more likely to violate health standards. A deep dive w/ @LeahMWillingham and @camfassett apnews.com/article/health…

Same here. We need to make all of these places known and ensure everyone has safe, reliable, and affordable water.

Crumbling infrastructure, low organizational capacity, workforce problems, regulatory neglect. I was glad to talk w/@mjphillis for this great--and troubling--story on the plight of small water systems in America apnews.com/article/health…

💯 Grateful to be a part of this important project with the awesome team led by @ASDWAorg! We’re going to leave here with practical and implementable solutions to test at improving how we solve challenges at small water systems and domestic wells.

@WaterResearch is excited and delighted to join @ASDWAorg, @UMass, @coronaenv, @RCAPInc and state experts and technology providers to focus on accelerating uptake of new treatment technologies at smaller water systems. Thanks to @EPA for funding this important work!

“Jackson Councilman Banks: there needs to be an in-depth analysis of all the conditions and system components impacting Jackson's water system, as well as policy in addressing how much it would cost.” Water systems that don’t do this as standard practice are failed or failing.

Even if federal govt gave "Jackson $1 billion to completely overhaul its infrastructure for water & sewer, we'd be right back in this situation five, 10, 20 years down the road because we haven't fixed those underlying structural problems." msn.com/en-us/news/us/…

Great to have the GAC treatment system running to address smoky water concerns after the Marshall Fire. Well done @townofsuperior! Grateful our @coronaenv can support the community. dailycamera.com/2022/08/03/new…

Thanks for sharing the @townofsuperior drinking water story and how our team at @coronaenv is answering important questions for the community. I thought we didn't have to worry about wildfires in our communities that are not in the forest. I know better now...

Glad to support the @townofsuperior to address their specific concern and advance our scientific understanding of how to solve #wildfires impacts on #water. Thanks for sharing the story, @awhage!

The water smelled and tasted like smoke for months after the fire. Meet the scientists trying to clean it, and learn why similar issues could be coming for other communities across the West. kunc.org/environment/20…

Glad to share about prioritizing public health risks in drinking water. This conversation is needed more than ever! Let’s put and keep our focus on addressing and avoiding the most significant risks.

What does it mean to make risk-based decisions for drinking water policy? @chadseidel explains the concept of prioritizing risks and addressing the drinking water issues that impact the most amount of people first.
