Congratulations to Daniel Bonn, Antoine Deblais, Tess Heeremans and Sander Woutersen! They won an Ig Nobel prize for their research in which they investigate the behaviour of drunk worms as a particular form of active matter. iop.uva.nl/content/news/2…

The Dutch government's "plan" for research and education: - structural cuts of university funding from 2025 - structural cuts of research (NWO) funding by 2030 - cuts of large-scale scientific infrastructures - 300 M€ cuts by reducing the number of international students

Nothing like publishing with a dear friend 😍. Thank you @CiascaGabriele for involving us in this cool project! Exploring novel circulating biomarkers for liver cancer through extracellular vesicle characterization with infrared spectroscopy and plasmonics sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Our university @VUamsterdam will have to cut 60 million euros in the next 5 years. All universities in the NL are similarly affected. This figure does not include the proposed budget cuts of the new government, which would literally destroy the Dutch academic system.

The first of what I am sure will be a long list of collaborative works with the Potsdam team. Thank you @SvenAskes for your leadership during the entire project!

Just out! We used pulsed light and time-resolved x-ray diffraction to launch and detect strain waves in thin-film plasmonic HfN, which revealed its nanomorphology. Fantastic collab with Andrea Baldi (@calippoebbira) & the Potsdam team of Matias Bargheer. doi.org/10.1002/adom.2…

New Article! Illuminating nanoparticles to produce nanoscale heating is easy. But it is challenging to measure the resulting temperatures! Check our perspective on thermometries compatible with single particles. @ACS_Sensors @insunsam @CONICETDialoga 1/3 pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Just had the absolute pleasure to meet Guillermo, seen here “enjoying” his superhero professor cape. Looking forward to future collaborations on #plasmonic nanothermometry and DNA origami. @Guille_P_Acuna @GuilleAcuna_Lab
