Now is the time for climate ambition & transparency. Not greenwashing. Now is the time to fast-track. Not backtrack. The future of humanity is at stake. #ClimateAction cannot be optional. #COP29

We are in the final countdown to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C. #COP29 must deliver a new ambitious climate finance goal that sees a surge in funds for #ClimateAction. This climate conference must not fail.

Climate scientists, activists & young people are demanding #ClimateAction. They must be heard, not silenced. For me, the conversations I have with them - at #COP29 & throughout the year - are extremely important. Their testimony & activism are fundamental to secure our future.

My message to young climate activists at #COP29: I count on you and you can count on me. We need a strong youth movement for #ClimateAction - now more than ever. The climate crisis is the most important battle of our lives. We must win it.

Now is the time for #ClimateAction & ambition. Ambition in adaptation to climate impacts. Ambition in climate mitigation. Ambition in climate finance. Ambition in climate justice. #COP29

Critical energy transition minerals are at the core of the renewables revolution. For developing countries rich in these minerals, they are an opportunity to eliminate poverty & drive sustainable development, provided they can add value before being exported. But too often we…

Small Island Developing States have every right to be angry. I am too. They are suffering a colossal injustice that sees their future threatened by climate change, including rising seas. It's an injustice that must end. Let’s move from anger to action. #ClimateAction #COP29

In this era of climate catastrophe, early warning systems and protection from extreme heat are not luxuries. They are necessities. As the climate crisis accelerates, so must we. At #COP29 I told world leaders that together we can and must protect people around the globe.

The climate emergency is a story of avoidable injustice. The rich cause the problem, the poor pay the highest price. The most vulnerable are being abandoned to climate extremes. We need climate justice. Now. #COP29

2024 has been a masterclass in climate destruction: Biodiversity destroyed in sweltering seas; Workers collapsing in insufferable heat; Floods tearing through communities; Droughts ravaging crops. ‌ All these disasters are supercharged by human-made climate change. ‌ We need…

In an era of climate extremes, loss & damage finance is a must. And we must get serious about the level of finance required. At #COP29, I urged governments to deliver. In the name of justice.

I told leaders at #COP29: All countries must take urgent #ClimateAction. But the G20 - as the largest emitters with the greatest capacities & resources - must lead. They must bring their technological know-how together – with developed countries supporting emerging economies.

Today’s announcement from the Multilateral Development Banks to increase climate finance injects much needed momentum at the start of #COP29. But it will not be enough on its own. More bilateral, private & innovative sources of finance must be tapped & scaled up as well.

Now more than ever climate finance promises must be kept. We need a new finance goal that meets the moment. #COP29 must tear down the walls to climate finance. The world must pay up, or humanity will pay the price.

Climate finance is not charity, it’s an investment. #ClimateAction is not optional, it’s an imperative. Both are indispensable to a liveable world for all humanity and a prosperous future for every nation on Earth. My remarks at #COP29: un.org/sg/en/content/…

Doubling down on fossil fuels is absurd. The clean energy revolution is here. No group, no business, and no government can stop it. Leaders at #COP29 can and must ensure it is fair and fast enough to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

My message to global leaders at #COP29: You must do more to protect your people from the ravages of the climate crisis. Ultimately, only you can deliver on national climate ambition & action. Only you can limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

Those desperate to delay and deny the inevitable demise of the fossil fuel age seek to make clean energy a dirty word. They will lose. The economics are against them. Solutions have never been cheaper or more accessible.

Those profiting from nature cannot treat it like a free, infinite resource. They must step up and contribute to its protection and restoration.

The #COP29 climate conference is just days away. Once again, young people are leading the call for #ClimateAction and ambition. I am on their side. Together, let’s keep fighting for the future they deserve — and the planet humanity needs.
