On this day: Wednesday 15th November 1978, Pure Hell played Barbarella's. In West Philadelphia born and raised....they formed in 1974, arrived in New York as Punk was beginning, moving to the infamous Chelsea Hotel, and split not long after this European tour.

I was contacted by Guzin, founder of @metal_oda saying she was visiting Brum from Istanbul & could we meet up & talk about Brum, music, metal & culture. We toured Brum & this is part 1 of her article. Her passion & knowledge for Brum bursts thru! Our music culture is global! 💛

So depressing to hear this I spent quite a bit of time w/ Press Up (w/ no payment!) on the redevelopment plans for the MCH which included a 1500 cap live venue & celebrating its musical heritage. An extremely important & iconic Brum building. Hopefully something will come forward

Methodist Hall: As reported yesterday on our IG, this project is over (for now). Oakmount's sister leisure company Press Up Hospitality/Cedar Creative Ltd, has gone into receivership citing major cost increases: energy, cost of living, Covid, Russia-Ukr war, and increased VAT.

And my now wife was dragged along by her then boyfriend to see some obscure rock band called U2 when she wanted to see Bow Wow Wow. She's still bitter.

My then girlfriend, now wife went to Bow Wow Wow at the Tower. Wish I'd gone too! Here's a pic from that night by Mick @MightyMighty_

Love that people have such good memories for detail 40 odd years later! See comments 🙌

On this day: Wednesday 22nd October 1980, Siouxsie and the Banshees played the Top Rank. Interesting story about The Banshees giving Altered Images a slot on the 1980 Kaleidoscope British tour after they wrote to the fanclub (they were all members) asking if they could support.
