🚨 New, from me: The medical examiner who helped persuade a jury in 2004 that Russell Maze killed his baby son has recanted his testimony. Now both the DA’s office and the original M.E. agree that the crime for which Maze was convicted never occurred. 1/x propublica.org/article/russel…

Today, I spoke with @RachelJKincaid to discuss her recent law review article on the junk science known as "Excited Delirium". On this episode you will hear the racist history of the "science" and how it shields from police for their unlawful uses of force.

Driving on a suspended license is an example of the criminalization of poverty.

NEW: Man with a suspended license joins court Zoom call while driving in his car. This is the funniest video I've seen in a long time. Judge Cedric Simpson can be seen dumbfounded after defendant Corey Harris dialed into the meeting from his car. Simpson: "Mr. Harris, are…

This appears to be one of the biggest crimes in modern history. For context, if the FTC's investigation is accurate, this single crime costs people at least 10 times the amount of all property crime combined according to the FBI.

NEW: The FTC uncovered a series of texts between big oil CEO Scott Sheffield and OPEC officials agreeing to limit oil production to raise prices. They raked in huge profits, while their scheme cost consumers $200 billion a year in higher prices. That’s about $3000 per family.

It’s not that we’re weak or broken for feeling leveled by this and not being able to set it aside. We’re feeling what we’re supposed to in the face of witnessing things that are so at odds with what we’re meant to be doing, what we know we owe one another.
