40 Article III federal judges confirmed in 2021. More than half are women of color/Native women, 80% are women & more than 2/3 are people of color or Native. Many have public defender or civil rights experience. THIS is what making our courts fairer & more inclusive looks like.

"race is not the risk factor. racism is. race exposes people to racism." we need to address racism, can measure both but need to address underlying structural issues. @mclemoremr at the #SMDM21 keynote.

Yo lactating HCPs: GET THE VAX. Car crash dummies are not women-sized but I gladly use a seat belt, based on those tests. The "vax not tested on preg/lact'g women" excuse is not plausible. No drugs get trialed on preg/lact'g folx. GET THE VAX & keep BFg. fda.gov/news-events/fd…

With breastfeeding, there's an assumption that when black women give birth, they are not going to breastfeed, so they aren’t offered the same assistance which would be given to a non-black woman. ⠀

We must continue to support Black women, birthing people + families by honoring the power of rest in Black breastfeeding, maternal health + social justice outcomes. #BlackBreastfeeding is a revolutionary and restorative act that sparks healing within Black families + communities.

I have known this for a long time! Thanks for putting it out there.

Do we use the word 'empowered' (often in sentences about women) because 'powerful' sounds too...strong? Too...powerful? Empowered implies that the power is bestowed by something external, but powerful comes from within. Is it time to stop using 'empowered'?
