In 1864 Andrew Kerins left Sligo for Scotland. Better known as Brother Walfrid, the Ballymote native would go on to found Celtic Football Club, a club we welcome to the Showgrounds this Wednesday night. Sligo Rovers 🤝 Celtic #Bitored | #Since1928
Walfrid’s legacy in helping the poor and setting up Celtic is commemorated in two statues that link Glasgow and Ireland. One of these can be found at Celtic Park (erected in 2005) and the other was installed the year before this in Sligo. 8/10 #Celtic #CelticFC
