Unless anything happens, the lack of preservation of early language models (GPT-3, lamda, Claude-1) will be looked as a tragedy comparable to the loss of many silent movies.

the fact that they can just, "retire" models forever with zero obligation to preserve them for the future bothers me on so many levels
