In today's new episode of Peacock+ / Sky TV's re-imagining of DAY OF THE JACKAL, Charles Dance (a.k.a. Tywin Lannister) utters this line: "Years after communism, RUSSIANS are still drunk, lazy, incept, corrupt peasants. "National characteristics always outlive regime change."

p.s. to general audience: Henry V was a Plantagenet king! As was Richard the Lionheart, Edward IV, his brother Richard the 3rd (probably the most famous/notorious) And Henry II, the first Plantagenet and ruler of the Angevin Empire = present-day England, Ireland and 1/2 of 🇫🇷

Paris 1407: Louis, Duke of Orléans, was murdered on the orders of John, Duke of Burgundy. This act sparked a civil war in France between the Armagnacs and the Burgundians. The resulting chaos provided an opportunity for Henry V of England, who launched an invasion in 1415. #OTD

Whem a currency gets so close to being worthless, it becomes harder to speak of a 'free fall'. Rather what you see when the central bank prints ever more money is that the graph becomes an asymptote. Banknotes with lots of zeroes. The central bank will never print a 'zero' note.

Russia's economy continues to slide this week, as the ruble sinks below a single US cent. The Ruble is now at its lowest point since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Putin has cost Russia's ruling class a lot of profits, assets, luxuries and lifestyle (travel) choices.

Natalka, never saw Putin as mastermind of the Moscow apartment bombings. Just as the KGB fed Putin kompromat to blackmail the mayor of St. Petersburg into giving him the top civil service post, in 1999 i viewed Putin as a tool of the KGB to gain control of the 🇷🇺 Fed Presidency.

I think we moved past what-ifs after what he did to Chechnya. Georgia, Syria, and Ukraine are all confirmations that he is the modern-day embodiment of pure evil.

Paul Antero Reposted

Actually, we knew Putin was pure evil after his false-flag 1999 domestic bombing campaign -- the first time that Putin bombed high-rise civilian apartment blocks (4 towers, in that case).

Russia should stop provoking the West. The West has nukes. France has a shoot first policy.

The first snow is falling in Kyiv. Then it melts and falls again. Half autumn half winter.

Nuclear saber-rattling is profoundly irresponsible, especially for a nation like Russia, where the population is so unevenly distributed. A single ICBM equipped with just two MIRVs could be sufficient to devastate critical areas and bring the situation to a decisive conclusion.

Russia invading Ukraine is what started the world war, not Ukraine defending itself. Russia is to blame for every death and will pay heavily for centuries to come.

This is a video of a brilliant and precise 🇺🇦strike on a 🇷🇺UNDERGROUND military headquarters using 🇬🇧Storm Shadow missiles. I believe reaching the rats in their bunkers won’t be a problem either. That’s probably why the Russians hysterically launched an intercontinental missile.

Just before Yi Peng 3 stopped for her odd 70 minute maneuver, she called the ferry FINNPULP on VHF CH16. Nothing interesting said, but police propably ought to question FINNPULP comms officer on the rest of the conversation. I'd be thankful for forwarding to relevant cop.

Putin's Russia isn't an ideological state. It has no need of "doctrine." It's a mafia state run by thugs. "Doctrine" is whatever Putin wants to do at any given moment. So don't fall for some "new doctrine" as if it's a trigger or red line that Putin will have to observe. /5

Dr. Oz had to pay $5.25 million to settle a class action suit for promoting phony weight loss cures. He is a conman. No wonder Trump likes him.

The war has been raging for a thousand days. Tens of thousands of people on both sides have lost their lives. Entire cities have been destroyed, and countless lives upended. And the reasons, unfortunately, are all clear: it’s all for one man’s ambitions.

Paul Antero Reposted

Russia has been bombarding Ukraine with missiles and drones every day for years. Years! Entire cities erased, tens of thousands of civilians killed. Don't treat it like escalation when Ukraine is allowed to strike back at military targets in the aggressor's territory.

Ukraine has used British Storm Shadows for the first time inside Russia, @guardian understands
