The running joke in Bangladesh right now is that the only one yet to be arrested from the opposition is Peter Haas, the U.S. ambassador. Jokes aside, the mass arrest should show how U.S. overestimated the impact of its mild restrictions and underestimated the AL’s ruthlessness.
