Putin is spending $140bn while we struggle to promise fifty. We are basically sending him the message "We won't stop you", so he won't stop. But if we allocated $800bn, he would be forced to rethink. Yes, we could afford it. And yes, it would be cheaper than letting him carry on.

Some good news yesterday: - 40+ nations met in Ramstein to discuss support for Ukraine. That is a great coalition forming. - Germany announced deliveries of heavy weapons and hinted an oil embargo might be possible soon. - Ukraine continue striking targets inside Russia.
This is what I have feared all along. The German government is still ready to throw Ukraine under the bus and make a deal with Russia. As you all know any compromise would mean that Russia would have influence over Ukraine, which would lose its independence.

About the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Don't trust anything Russia says, or signs. Russia cannot be trusted with anything. Russia has to be confronted with blunt force. Ukraine has to retake the lost land and the West has to crush Russia's economy. Then, maybe, peace.
When #Russia attacks, then will be too late for painful measures. Who would care in #Ukraine when their country will be destroyed? If #Russia really wants to prevent provocations and supposed ‘genocide’ it must agree to deploy #UN peacekeepers along whole ‘touch- line’.
Unfortunately, Putin seems determined to complete his march of folly into Ukraine. His repeated ultimatums are so Hitler-like that he does not even appear to desire any concessions. Will he survive this folly? I doubt it. But he will take many more people with him into the grave.
