Excellent first day back at work after my maternity leave. Congratulations @VicMuscleNet for this great symposium!
A great way to kick off this year’s VMN Symposium with an excellent first Keynote (zoom) presentation from Dr Sarah Lessard from @JoslinDiabetes on “How metabolic disease impacts muscle remodeling with exercise” #VicMuscleNet #myotwitter #exercise
Check out our recently published review on the key signalling pathways in PCOS etiology: doi.org/10.1530/JOE-22… @KirstyWalters7 @valentinarp979 @CreWhirl @iHealthSportVU
Using skeletal muscle biopsies in vitro, McIlvenna et al. show that elevated circulating TGFβ1 may explain the impaired adaptation to exercise in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, which is associated with elevated androgen levels. Full story 👉 buff.ly/3AVAJjN
Exercise activates a higher number of genes that cause #inflammation in women with #PCOS. @albut_ @iHealthSportVU tells us more about this finding and its implications for women’s health @JPhysiol buff.ly/3NE2C2i
Great to see this one published, builds upon our previous work: jme.bioscientifica.com/view/journals/… and frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…
Our latest paper in @JPhysiol about the effect of TGFB1 on muscle cell contraction in PCOS. This is the result of another great collaborative work with @_AliAltintas_ @Romain_Barres @LukeMcIlvenna doi.org/10.1113/JP2829…
