IMO, Gemini 1.5 Pro is the largest leap in long form video understanding since I started my PhD in long form video + language understanding back in 2016, and more will be coming 🔥

Gemini 1.5 Pro is super impressive. I am feeding it @karpathy's new lesson on Tokenization, and I can easily: - Summarize the video. - Identify the most important concepts. - List action items for further exploration. I broke the video down into 30-minute chunks.

Gemini 1.5 Pro can understand tasks and questions across different modalities because of its long context understanding. When given a 44-minute Buster Keaton film, it's able to find small details in the film and understand plot points. #GeminiAI

Introducing Gemini 1.5: our next-generation model with dramatically enhanced performance. It also achieves a breakthrough in long-context understanding. The first release is 1.5 Pro, capable of processing up to 1 million tokens of information. 🧵 dpmd.ai/3SEbw4p

As one example of 1.5 Pro’s sophisticated multimodal understanding and reasoning capabilities with long context, when given a 44-minute silent film, the model can analyze various plot points and events, and even makes sense of small details you might have missed.

To show what’s possible with the drastically huge context window in Gemini 1.5 Pro, we prompted it with the three.js examples code - over 100,000 lines of code/800k+ tokens! (That’s not even the max, it can handle millions of tokens 😀) Gemini was able to process all the code…
