Fascinating that Sandy Irvine’s climbing boot from 1924, recently discovered on Everest, appears to be of ‘Norwegian pattern’ type. These boots, sturdy and claimed to be waterproof due to their construction, were common officers’ ‘trench boots’ during the Great War.
