At an Afghan-American & Jewish-American wedding in Omaha, Nebraska with fellow Veterans and just watched a bunch of Pashtun friends in traditional clothes dance the Hava Nagila, lifting the bride and groom into the air on chairs. One of the most American 🇺🇸 things I’ve ever seen
Two years ago today, celebrating the return of two of my brothers and unsung heroes, @saf_rauf and @AneesKhalil_HFC, after being held hostage by the Taliban for 105 days. I’ve worked many hostage cases but this was the first one that was personal.
There is no place for hate in a movement for change. Any incitement of violence against any race, religion, orientation, gender is unacceptable. Your movement is over the day you incite violence of any kind.
