Last thoughts of the morning...be the teacher you would want, children learn more when they feel happy and safe. Show them your personality.

Year 5 Teacher Reposted

I’ve said it before and I’ll say It again: you can have all your planning, your displays, your laminated resources and your squidgy balls. But if you can’t love your children and get them to love you, you’ve no chance.

Teachers utter those words... 'They are/were always fine for me'. 1) probably not true. 2) not helpful!

"What are you doing about this child who is not on track?" stupid question?

Thoughts on writing plans for foundation subjects? Vital or unnecessary? #primary #education #foundationsubjects #planning

Year 5 Teacher Reposted

The desire to say whether pupils are "On track" is at the heart of what is wrong with our assessment culture.

A happy child will learn more, the learning environment is vital. They need to trust you.

Schools seem to be becoming so fixed on marking policies. Surely a common sense approach is needed rather than a one size fits all model?

"Children don't learn from people they don't like" #smile #benice #primaryteaching

Perfect, then show them the footage of their child disrupting everyone else

5 teacher truths to tell yourself in 2019: 1) My mental health is more important than results; 2) My school has a duty to look after me; 3) My family is more important than my job; 4) I can’t take care for anyone else if I don’t care for myself); 5) I can teach elsewhere.

Year 5 Teacher Reposted

Often when kids become competent readers, we stop listening to them as parents. So much vocabulary support is lost then. I will never tire of ‘mummy I found a weird word.’ Tonight it has been ricocheted, tarpaulin and retirement. Put that in a sentence 😂👌 #readingrocks

Christmas arts and crafts fun this week, any good ideas? #christmasdecorations #schoolfun

Year 5 Teacher Reposted

Teachers are pretty amazing. Few people realise the energy and resilience required for 30 children in a confined space for 30 hours a week.
