Breaking: Smollett reports second attack. Perps described as 3 feet tall, with green hats and green coats.

The Smollette decision is a fitting end to the shambolic tenure of Kim Foxx. Good riddance to both of them.

I guess it depends which 50 years! The West Loop transformation alone over the past decade is nuts, couple miles south and you’ve got Chinatown/McCormick place, a couple miles North are some of the most desirable city neighborhoods in the country. Heck west loop ties on that now

David Posey of 1 Michelin star restaurant Elske appears to have some new (?) restaurant brewing basically next door to Elske, to the west - in West Loop, Chicago. Former home of Bespoke Cuisine, which closed 4-5+ years ago and the ground floor space has been vacant since.

Finally, voters in blue cities are fed up with the stupid mistakes that their leaders have been making for the last ten years: noahpinion.blog/p/the-blue-cit…

Ironically the end of Roe probably cements abortion as a permanent right in 75% of the country, absent federal meddling.

An underdiscussed reason for last night's election result is how much genuinely bad governance in deep blue cities & states undermined the Democratic Party on a national level. Each time someone had to ask the Walgreen's clerk to unlock the deodorant was a Republican campaign ad.

Initial results show Nathan Hochman leading George Gascón in Los Angeles County D.A. race. abc7.la/4fbdWBJ See all election results: abc7.la/4elc1cx

This is partly on MBJ not running a competent admin. Blue Mayor in a Blue State and we’ve got too many problems he has no answer for. Just toxic.

In Chicago, Trump jumped to 22.01% of the city vote in 2024, up from 12.41% of the city vote in 2016, according to unofficial returns. Read more: trib.al/wFCcgVn

blue city governance has to improve, FAST

This is a moment of soul-searching for urban progressives. Chicago, Houston, and Dallas shifted ~10 points right vs '20. Miami moved 19 pts right. Queens 21 pts right. The Bronx: 22 pts. Solving this problem begins with seeing clearly what just happened theatlantic.com/politics/archi…

I was skeptical of the argument that bad blue state governance kills Democrats because it tended to be made by commentators who could barely conceal their wish for a lurch rightward but I now think it's correct

The worst performances were in very blue states. There are lots of potential reasons for that, but it’s not a good look for Democratic governance. Turning around state level outcomes is going to be important for recapturing a national narrative.

All my life, our cities have been run by a parade of grifters, charlatans and mediocrities. The results are glaring--our communities are both a punchline and free advertising for the GOP. Tomorrow depends on cleaning up the Democratic Party and we should start at home.

We desperately need to ditch MBJ at the next opportunity.

I believe the biggest message may be in two states that Harris actually won - New Jersey and Illinois. Harris only winning two deep blue states by 4 or 5 points that Biden won by 17 points is a screaming message about progressive culture war failures. From crime to police to…

Our new School Board rep.

AP declares Aaron "Jitu" Brown as winner in the District 5 school board race. He was the only candidate on the ballot. He led the charge for Chi to have an elected school board and after the `13 school closings swore off going to school bd meetings. Now he will be going to many.

Thesis: Women over 65 know Harris may be the last chance in their lifetimes to see a woman win the Presidency.

It’s a moving walkway, not a moving standway.
