We are delighted to share our toolkit for defending the importance of women in women’s healthcare. Advice, links to resources, case studies and more. Free to access or download. Donations welcome. with-woman.org/with-woman-too…

👍to the president of @RCObsGyn speaking up for gynae care in the NHS. 👍 to see her using sexed words for clarity & truth - it’s *women’s* health, not health for ‘women & people with a uterus/vagina/ovaries’ etc. RCOG too often prefers ‘gender neutral’🙄 theguardian.com/commentisfree+…

La Leche League in GB is affected by the attempted imposition of poisonous genderist ideology from the LLL’s US-based bosses - now trustee & PR director Miriam resigns. Solidarity, Miriam. archive.ph/2024.11.11-193…

Pretending men can breastfeed & requiring breastfeeding supporters to help & celebrate them undermines mothers & makes babies a prop in fantasy. Now it risks destroying this great international women’s organisation. x.com/millihill/stat…

One of the only surviving founders of breastfeeding organisation La Leche League has written a letter of resignation today, citing LLL's insistence on including 'breastfeeding men'. Marian Tompson is in her 90s and warns us we are losing our way. Link in my bio or on the tile.

Oh no, @EndometriosisUK A long thread describing the effects & symptoms of this serious condition….without even mentioning girls or women🙄. Erasing sex avoids the fact that *female* healthcare is under-resourced & *girls*’ pain under-estimated.😡 x.com/EndometriosisU…

Period pain that impacts day to day life, including causing absences from school, can be a symptom of endometriosis and other menstrual health conditions, and must be taken seriously. Continued in the thread below 👇

Another attempt to avoid ‘woman’ & ‘mother’ 🤨Midwifery is mother-centred - or should be. ‘Best for the family’ isn’t always best for the mother. We need to differentiate; don’t bundle ‘mother’ into the word ‘family’, to avoid sexed language. x.com/NuffieldTrust/…

NEW BLOG: Rebecca Best draws on her own experience as a midwife to describe how a clash of birthing philosophies can create problems in #MaternityCare, while suggesting that a solution could be found in a greater focus on shared values. 👇 nuffieldtrust.org.uk/news-item/prof…

Here’s a great project, but reaching out to ‘pregnant people’. All of them will be women, however they identify. Desexing language risks confusion & acts as if the effect of sexism on services isn’t real. Language matters. x.com/khazaezadeh/st…

Delighted to join the 10-year celebration of @LeapLambeth, Celebrating the incredible partnership & system change that led to improved lives of babies, our future generation. Proud to see maternity staff & midwives contributions at the heart of it all. @CMidOEngland

‘Parents’ express milk in the NICU?? No. Don’t resist the use of the word ‘mother’. De-sexed terms have an impact - it risks confusion & reduces the importance of the mother. Your evidence re effective expressing is for *mothers*, however they identify. x.com/ilana_abc/stat…

Another exciting research paper on practical advice for parents expressing milk in the NICU, this time on how much milk to express: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/mc… @NPEU_Oxford @IableOrg @NNAUK1 @Blisscharity @BfN_UK @BFMedicine @AssocBfMothers @LLLGB @lalecheleague @NeoResearch_Net

Periodwear co @Modibodi describe ‘menstruators’ or ‘women & ppl who menstruate’ in new media puff, so desperate to be ‘inclusive‘. Daft phrases from their idea that only ‘some’ transwomen (ie men) don‘t have uteruses & some of them have periods🙄. Need an inclusive word? WOMEN!

Landmark case in Aus #TickleVsGiggle removes Aus rights to sex-specific spaces, services & sports...replacing the reality of ‘sex’ with a self-declared ‘gender identity’. This is bad for all of us, inc those of us fighting for women-centred care in maternity. #SexNotGender

White Ribbon Alliance UK - part of global advocacy work for women’s health & maternity - introduces training to combat obstetric violence with Free From Harm👍. But despite understanding the inherent *sexism* in OV, they've gone with ‘gender’ lingo. Disappointing.@WRA_UK

This gruesome phrase - 'bodyfed newborn’ 😡- instead of the sexed term ‘breastfeeding’ comes from the well-known website/campaign EvidenceBasedBirth.com, now captured by gender ideologues🙁 What‘s the *evidence* for using such concocted & confusing terms? @BirthEvidence

We agree. There‘s no justification for omitting the ‘w’ word. Yes, there are women who don’t have periods - but we guarantee menopausal, or pregnant women etc won’t feel ‘excluded’ if ‘woman’ is used here. ‘Menstruators’: just used to appease ideologues. x.com/hannahdahlen/s…

I am really sad to to see the professional body representing those who care for women @ranzcog not able to say their name. Why are we reducing women to body parts and functions and dehumanising them?Where are the posts on ejaculators and penis holders? #ENOUGH

Again, the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists talk about the ‘women & people’ who use their services. ‘Women’ is the inclusive word - everyone who needs an ob/gynae is one, however she identifies. Stop pretending otherwise. @RCObsGyn x.com/RCObsGyn/statu…

Over 590,000 women and people across England are currently waiting for non-cancer hospital gynaecology services. (1/6)

It's interesting that the @UKLabour Shadow minister for Women talks about the "parenthood pay gap". It's an example of how de-sexing the language leads to inaccuracy. There is a motherhood pay gap. Fatherhood has actually been linked to a pay premium.

Labour will lift women up, not hold them back. Because we are the party of equality. #IWD2022
