Proud husband and father of 3. When I’m not doing the dad thing, the skies clear, and the moons hiding I’m out back chasing my next astrophotography target.

One of my favorite objects to take pictures of. Pleiades is known by several different names, but perhaps it is most famous for being the inspiration for the Subaru Vehicles logo (turn it sideways)

My latest photo is Gum 15 (and friends) in the constellation Vela! 📷 I captured this image using my ultra-portable travel rig from a dark sky site (Bortle 3). I've always wanted to point my telescope to a random, interesting area of nebulosity and see what's in there - this…

2023 was by far the most impactful year for my astrophotography. Over the last two months me and collaborators discovered - five new supernova remnants - over ten planetary nebulae - over five objects of unknown origin - three unknown optical supernova counterparts This is only…

Nice work Matt!

I spent 6 hours capturing NGC7023 (Iris Nebula). It's a work in progress, but I'm pleased with it so far. Extracting the dust (Integrated Flux Nebula) from the data is tricky; a delicate balance to avoid adding too much noise. More data needed! #astronomy #Astrophotography

I finally did it. My first Pixinsight processed image. I've still got a lot to learn and it's a work in progress but I am really impressed with how much better this is than photoshop already.

Glad to see you back at it Ruz!

I'm not too proud to admit I've been struggling a lot. This year has been quite hard, especially for my partner. I've not really been out at all. I even contemplated selling up. But I'm trying. Seeing if I get some mojo back in winter. For now, here's NGC7000 #astrophotography
