NGC 602. The Flying Lizard. This is a Nebula and star clusters trailing off the Small Magellanic Cloud. I imaged the SMC a couple weeks ago and was drawn to this Nebula, so I spent a few hours imaging it with my 200mm Newt. Antila Triband Filter ASI 294MC PRO AZEQ6 49x5 min

A couple of opposing time lapses of the Southern and Northern skies from Central Victoria.

A couple of my Time-lapses from last week. Enjoy.

The Small Magellanic Cloud.

Another image I captured this week of dwarf galaxy, the Small Magellanic Cloud. It's the smaller sibling to the LMC I posted earlier, and both are easily naked eye objects once you're away from the light pollution At only 200 kly away, it's our cosmic next door neighbour.

Centaurus A. An elliptical galaxy devouring a spiral galaxy, about 12 million L.Y. away. Imaged from my back yard with my Sharpstar CF80 and ASI294MC PRO. #Astrophotography

M83, The Southern Pinwheel. I imaged this a couple of days ago with my 200mm Newtonian. Conditions were far from ideal, with light cloud covering the sky, so this is far better than I expected it to turn out. 15 million year old photons, captured in my back yard.

I reprocessed my last years capture of NGC 104, Globular Cluster 47 Tucanae, using a work flow from Deep Space Astro. Heaps better than my last effort. #Astrophotography

I imaged this last night using a Canon 75-300mm kit lens at 300mm, attached to my ASI 294MC PRO camera, and riding on my Skywatcher AZGTi mount. M8 and M20, 20 x 2 min subs.

A wide field shot (100mm) of M17 (Omega) and friends, including M16 (Eagle), and M24 (Small Sagittarius Star Cloud). 2 hours of exposure (5 min subs) with a UVIR and Optolong L-Extreme filters, from my back yard.

Who cares if the water temp is 11C, and the air temp is 8C. It LOOKS like summer. 😁

Corona Australis is recognised by the Australian Aboriginal Boorong people of Victoria as a Boomerang. It's an easily seen constellation away from the light pollution. I imaged this from my back yard with an old Nikon lens, my ASI 294MC PRO and an Antila Tri band filter.

This is a time lapse I made of last night's Aurora. This wasn't visible to the naked eye.
